Okay, so:
It's a children's movie. I am not a child. I'm an adult. I have my own adult bucks, and I might not want to spend it on this. What's the big deal? I'm not obligated to see the latest Disney movie. I'm also not obligated as an adult to tolerate dumb shit in children's media. I, as an adult, am allowed to think something is beneath kids. There's no obligation for a kids' movie to have a cute comic relief character that doesn't really contribute to the plot. We are allowed to critique kids' media.
Disney fandom is fucked up. It's like Supernatural without the creepy RPS.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-09 08:00 am (UTC)(link)I'm talking about the jerky adults that act entitled to a disney movie that is for them instead of for the next generation of children.
Of course I don't think adults should have to like children's movies. I think adults who do like children's movies have to accept they are not the target demographic anymore, so everything isn't going to be perfectly sculpted to suit their tastes.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, I do agree with that.
I guess it just bothered me a bit here because it's such a long-standing tradition with Disney, it just seems ridiculous that people were reacting like they were shocked about it.
Re: Okay, so: OP
Nobody's arguing that kids' movies shouldn't have cute characters. They're arguing that this character in particular is dumb.
Do you think we should just toss shit at our kids? Here, you're a kid, you'll like anything! I as an adult have no opinion on this. Kids should have movies that are dumb! It's what I've decided kids like!
