Yes. Obviously girls need to stop playing the games they like and play the ones that'll make them respected instead. Respected by guys, even. Guys who judge you based on what kind of games you like to play. Obviously.

Also? It's wrong for guys and girls to have different preferences, and if they do, it's obviously the guys' preferences that are right and better. And the girls should strive to have the same taste or not play at all, because having their own, different taste is embarrasing!

The truth has blinded me. Why did I never see it before?

Well, okay, I can see how it'd get annoying if your friends refuse to play something because it's not "cute" or something, and how it'd get annoying if they kept jibber-jabbering about the kind of games you don't care about. Those things drive me nuts as well. But still, that's no reason to put down the entire gender just because a couple girls would rather play Pokemon than a FPS, and I think that aspect of your secret is going to generate a lot of wank. Just sayin'.

And anyway, tons of guys like Pokemon and FF. I like Pokemon and FF. FFIV (II in the US) actually inspired me to learn how to read when I was a little kid, because I wanted to know what the characters were saying. I've loved Pokemon since I was in 2nd grade, and I still love it today. Yet at the same time, I love Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Splinter Cell, all that good stuff. It's not all black and white, see.

25) Well, I'm not as angry at my "stereotypical girl gamer" friends as you, but I can sort of understand what you mean. I have ten hour long gaming sessions with my female friends and we play a bit of almost everything. At the end, I'm still not sure we're what you would call hardcore, but we're no more 'gamers' than the stereotypes you think your friends are. Seriously, I'm not going to get offended and bite your balls off or anything but stop acting so superior.

But fangirling aside, I agree. I dislike Sakura immensely (even after playing Heaven's Feel, actually), but be damned if Angra Mainyu controlled Sakura isn't one of the most fucked up, crazy, and really damn hot villains in any series I've ever watched.

25. Also, there is a very good reason I don't like FPS.

They make me sick. I get motion sickness from playing them. Also, I find the controls clunky and difficult to use. To me, FPS is one of the least playable genres of games in existence and I don't understand how my friends can play them so well. Give me dungeon crawlers, give me Super Smash Brothers, give me puzzles, or give me an RPG. Just no FPS. FPS is the only genre of game that I find literately unplayable.

I'll just be content to watch other people play it and flip through the art books.

12. That's pathetic. My boyfriend isn't involved in fandom at all, nor is he enthusiastic about anything of that sort, but I still have the time of my life hanging out with him. He even discusses anime and games with me sometimes because he knows how happy that stuff makes me, but you'd never know he had any knowledge of the stuff from talking to him casually. Get over yourself and realize there's more to friendship than interest in fictional works.

25. Oh, I adore Final Fantasy. I'm also an avid player of various RPGs and quirky Japanese games, and I love rhythm stuff. You know what else I play? Whatever appeals to me. I tend to choose games by what's fun for me (Castlevania, Lost in Blue) and/or what will make me think and feel like I normally wouldn't (Killer7, Silent Hill). Of course, those are just some recent examples. I've been gaming for 18 years, so you'll have to forgive me if I don't recall everything I've played through. One last note - I'm damn proud you think I'm a bad "girl gamer". I don't consider my gender to be part of my identity in my hobbies, and I think you're a bad gamer if you consider FPS to be the ultimate genre for all players ever. You keep on being the only true girl gamer. The gamers don't want you.

I'm sorry, but before you start spewing that crap, could you please define "gamers" to me? Because in my book, a gamer is someone who plays video games on a regular basis - and here's the punchline - regardless of genre.

25. I'm guilty of loving Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Phoenix Wright and all those "cute" little Japanese games, and I sort of understand your angle...but I still take some sort of offense to this. We like what we like, and some of us (I'd wager most, even) like other games, too. I'm STILL partial to the OLD Rayman, Monkey Island, Loom, etc. I don't like FPS games because I really am no good at aiming WHILE GETTING MYSELF SHOT AT, never have been.

"Serious" girl gamers can like these games, too, even prefer it if they want. I happen to have a friend who is what you define as a "serious" girl gamer who has almost every system as far back as Atari, and a collection of games big enough to make most peoples' heads spin. Probably well over 250. Yet she prefers RPGs like Final Fantasy and loves Pokemon. It's just the way we are.

Sorry to say from it, but we're here to stay. Deal with it, and we'll deal with you. M'kay?

Wow. I was just planning on making a secret more or less on the same lines as this last night. And I'm glad I didn't, because you put it into better words than I could have.

<sup>Really, prior to playing Phoenix Wright, there wasn't a character that inspired me in any way. All my favorites were either badass or clever since birth and socially secure, while the characters I identified with were either emotional trainwrecks or secondary characters that didn't develop at all. Edgeworth's character made me feel so much better about myself and my insecurities. Just knowing that yes it is possible to be an admirable, cool person and still feel awkward and horrible with words, and yes it is possible to change, even in your adult years, and yes it is possible to be happy and maintain friendships, even while that introverted fraction of your personality of you is there to stay. No one is perfect, and imperfection won't hinder your growth as a person.

Hell, it's a lesson in life of the Phoenix Wright series as a whole.</sup>
