Is really necessary to delete everything not-appropriate instead of just freezing?

I would understand if it was a troll posting images or videos or triggering stuff, but this trend of deleting comments (even if they're made by trolls) instead of freezing is starting to brother me :/

The problem is that what's hurtful to you may not be hurtful to me, and what's hurtful to me may seem like nothing to you. I didn't see the original comment, and maybe it was awful in all regards, but that doesn't mean somebody is horrible just because they worry about a heavy hand on deletions.

I won't even care if the full thread wasn't deleted. Some actually good comments have been deleted lately (not this time though, as far as I saw) and in all honestly, this "let's make FS a safe space" thing is tiresome.

And hey, it's just a matter of time until something that is not an attempt of trolling gets deleted. So, freezing > deleting (unless there's a good reason).

Ironic, given the fact that the people calling the whaaambulance right now are the ones objecting to the deletion of a potentially hurtful comment on a secret posted by someone struggling to remember that happiness is possible in the face of mental illness. TBH in cases like this I more or less assume that the people complaining are trolls trying to find some justification so that Case will let them keep doing their thing.

It was harmful, hurtful, and pointless. I am completely on board with Case deleting those posts. I see absolutely no point in letting them stand.

The comment was a single one being like "harhar just don't get fat like she did" and there wasn't any actual discussion there to delete besides two people being like "hey, no."

That was what got deleted, it was like... 3 comments or something. "fat" "hey no" "hey no" For the record. There might have been one more "no" in there that I forgot.

Generally if an actual discussion is being had (see: giant political threads, lots of feminism-related stuff, etc) [ETA: er, a discussion that actually gets really wanky I mean, they obviously don't all get frozen], I'll freeze it! Both sides get their says left up, and stuff. But if it's just something hurtful/offensive/ridiculously wanky/there for shock value, I figured it's not actually serving any purpose except to offend more people by staying up.

...so do I really have to explain that anon's use of the poem was way overblown to the actual situation, and I was drawing attention to that fact, by mocking it? By the way, I am one of the anons above who is arguing AGAINST deletion; as always, we are under a benevolent dictatorship here at Fandomsecrets, and whatever case decides is, ultimately, what goes. But I do think it would have been better, if the thread had been frozen, instead of deleted outright. As many have said before me, and many will say after me, FS is nobody's "safe space."
