Honestly though, in my astronomy class our professor made it fairly clear that it is not a planet, but it's still classified as a "dwarf planet." And all I could think was...planet is in the name, but it's not a planet? Huh?

28. It kind of bothers me that people get so offended by pluto not being a planet anymore. The beautiful wonderful thing about science is that it's fluid. When new information is available it is allowed to change. So what if pluto's not a planet. A rose by any other name is still as sweet? A round space rock by any other name is just as cold.

28: Jupiter has a solid core, and trumps Pluto mass-wise. Also, we've seen more gas exoplanets than terrestrial exo planets. Gas planets most likely outnumber terrestrial planets, so your clever "solid surface" argument doesn't hold water, sry2say.

It's like this: Once upon a time, astronomists found a small round thing floating in space. "Hark!" they said. "A new planet!" They named it Ceres. After that, they found a another planet, which they named Pallas. And another one named Vesta. And then they kept finding more and more little rocks in space in roughly the same orbit as Ceres & Co. were. "Oops", the astronomers said. "Ceres is just a rather large rock among a shitpile of smaller rocks. That's not very planet-y." So they called the rocks "asteroids" and all was well.

The same thing happened to Pluto. They found a round rock in space, went "Squee, a new planet!", then they found a shitload of other rocks where there should be an empty orbit for Pluto.

Really, Pluto is more closer to a comet than a planet. Wonky orbit, composed mostly of ice... if Pluto orbited closer to the sun, it would form a tail, like a true comet. Not very planet-y.

You're having a hissy-fit because you're used to thinking of Pluto as a planet. Unfortunately, astronomy doesn't give two shits about your comfort. That's the job of medicine and psychology.

9) If you're saying you feel kind of intimidated, I know what you mean. Especially since I'm thinking of joining as a character from a large, wanky fandom. We're not all bad, guys, really.
15) Hm, it's strange. The popular thing right now is hating on this pairing. Not saying you personally hate it, but I think you'll fit in with the rest of the fandom pretty well now. I still ship them obsessively, of course.

And fought how many battles? (He didn't even fight Sheena. wtf is that)

Oh man. Totally know what you're talking about there. I have the exact same problem with a buddy of mine. We picked up two characters in a game with the intent on getting them together in the future, but we've been playing them for well over a year now, and nothing's happened. : ( I mean, it's one thing to take time and effort in developing it, but it's an entirely different thing to just...not do anything with it at all.

In short: I FEEL YOUR PAIN. T_T

To be honest, I really don't get these secrets. If you look at the actual fandom, you will see such a wide range of fans, yet everyone interacts with each other despite differences in preference. I really don't get why people think that anyone who doesn't ship Phoenix/Miles (or anything at all!) is going to get the immediate scorn of a zillion fangirls, it's such an over generalization of the fandom and frankly, not true.

I used to bitch that the series should have stopped at X5, because god the plotholes are ridiculous, but I still can't really hate on X6-8 because my very favorite characters in the series came from them.

And honestly, I want an X9, because no matter how bad everything else sucks, I really want to know what happened after Axl's ending.
