Re: Recommendations for WoW?
I'm sure there'll be a good collection of hard-core players who won't budge, and of course there's always gold farmers, but I don't expect it to be above 5 million by this time next year.

You same damn people said the same thing about SWTOR, but it's raking in cash and still going.

or is that why*

Re: Recommendations for WoW?
It's not too late to get into WoW, but don't expect to spend a long time with it; I suspect they'll keep it going as long as it can until the hassle of running it begins to outstrip the profit. I really don't expect it to last more than a couple years -- even if they switch to microtransactions like they're talking about I think we're seeing the game's twilight years. It doesn't help that what's left of the fanbase, though very loyal, tends towards the creepy -- WoW at its peak had a very diverse playerbase, but as most of them have moved on, what's left tend to be the dregs. So be warned going in.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)They do - and the price is a one time thing, no fees after that [unless you decide to change servers or something, and even there you can get the same basic thing without actually having to do that.]
But I suspect that the other anon actually means Guild Wars 2 since that came out a year or two ago and is pretty awesome. Just, if you do play it in trail, don't expect it to play exactly like other mmos since some things [like their quests for example] are set up a little different and it throws people a bit at first.

another server rec

Nice to have a rec for a server that's also good! I love TC but it can be difficult to get onto, which makes it annoying if you're trying to catch a free weekend.
