drop me a line, hon. I'd love to RP either side of that pairing with someone and I promise I'm literate. It's worth a shot at least, right?

People like you are what make old school Who fandom so frustrated with new Who fandom. The kind of fanbrats (OH YES I SAID IT! ::G::) who just care about shipping and that the newer Doctors are 'hot' and have absolutley no respect for the classic series.

I love that there's so many new fans and injecting new blood and new ideas into the fandom, but have a bit of respect from where the series came from in the first place.

And there's a whole other EIGHT of them. I'm sure you can find one that isn't 'creepy' (try Davison. He's going to be in the Children in Need spesh anyway).

Is it all right if we really care about shipping and quite enjoy the fact that the newer Doctors are hot, but also like diving into the 20-some-odd (some very odd) years of continuity previous? Because I kind of agree with 43 just in the sense that it's very daunting to try and join older Whovians when you do rather rabidly love the Doctor/Rose. It's like, you can have a lovely time, until someone brings up Rose, and then the vitriol just spills forth, and leaves the D/R folk shattered husks of fangirls.

PS-Am I psyched about Davison showing up in Series Four? I so am! I didn't know it was going to be in the CiN one. Glee!

9 - I don't think there's any stigma associated with Pacifica/Shannon because there is no fandom. Which sucks, because DAMN Fulle is hot.

1: I'm probably the only person in the universe who doesn't get the Companion Cube thing. Granted,I've never played Portal, but the impression I got was that it's... a cube. With hearts on it. And for some reason a bunch of people in-game fell in love with it. Why is it supposed to be heartbreaking/horrible for you to incinerate it? I don't get it.

4: Oh, ditto. Beast turning into a human completely undoes the message of the story. <TMI>It seems I've always had a weakness for couples/buddy cop teams/friends where one is small and/or humanoid and the other is hulking and/or animalistic. So of course, when I started working on my original story, I made the only canon couple a gender-reversed Beauty-and-the-Beast, where the Beast never turns into a human. Good thing the story will never see the light of day...</TMI>

24. Emotionally abusive in which way? If you're a Harmony fan (the type from the batshit corner of portkey), Ron's the abusive one who hates woman and treats them like they're nothing better than dirt on the ground, but if you ~~have some brain cells left~~ are not, then you might consider Hermione is the abusive one and... no. I don't think so either.

ARGH. That'll teach me to post a secret and not state sides clearly. I am NOT a Harmonian. At ALL. I don't seriously ship anyone in the books. I don't particularly care who ends up with whom, so long as the relationship doesn't make me twist into knots, or stare at the page and wonder if that's how they treat their friends/crush, how the hell are they still friends.

Or, in certain cases, what in the world happened to the character between them first showing up and their falling in love.

24. This one makes me mock the secret writer. Teenagers aren't allowed to be stupid and hormonal just because they're smart? Seriously, spend some time in a high school. Also-- seriously NOT an abusive relationship. Sometimes when people who like to bicker (shock, those people exist) they do hurt each other when they say something because they're human and it happens, but, as the relationship attests, those hurts are shallow and short-lasting.

Yeah. I'm gonna chime in with the "you have no idea wtf an emotionally abusive relationship is like" crowd. Because there is a vast level of diffence between the petty, ugly shit teenagers throw at each other when fiddling out relationships and a genuinly emotionaly abusive relationship.

Was it mean? Yes. Was it wrong? Deffinatly. But it was not emotional abuse. Emotional violence, perhaps, but not abuse. Emotional abuse requires a level of power imbalance, either in hierachy or simply on a mental/emotional level where by one party cannot fight back, and leaves lasting damage that destroys a person's sense of self worth. Ron was fighting back in spades, and neither party came out of the ordeal with crippling scars that prevented them from, say, speaking their mind or leaving the goddamed house like true emotional abuse would.

Ron and Hermiony both threw shit, and then OMG, they grew out of it, which is the normal thing for teenagers. Not pretty, not ideal, but as one person said "If I ever met my sixteen year old self, I'd punch him in the face." It's a major facet of the human condition.

If anyone is emotionaly abused in the series it's Harry, by the Dursley's and by Snape. :/

(I do belive that you aren't a Hamony shipper, though. It's quite possible to hate a pairing dynamic without being being a fan of that pairing's "rival" 'ship, as I know from personal experience.)

EDIT: Oh. I'm not saying you have to like the ship, either, or like how they treat each other. I actually don't. I find it a rather boring copy-paste of Ron's parents, in fact. But calling it abusive is wrong, because it's not. It's just immature and confrontational in it's early stages.

I just have to say I totally agree with what you've said about Snape being emotionally abused. If anything, he was probably the most abused character in the whole series in aspects far more than just emotional.

24. :) You're not the only one. I never particularly liked that pairing either. I used to hate it, now I just kinda put up with it cause it's canon and I don't really care, anyway. Although I was disappointed that Hermione ends up with the ONE Weasley I never liked to pair her up with. (besides Arthur and Ginny) I always figured Percy was more her type. ...but then again, because of that I always liked her better with Fred. (Haha) But by pairing her up with Ron...I dunno. I mean, I get that he likes her and he's just a stupid boy (I got that from the beginning) but it seems kinda weird to pair them up. Like they're trying to kick Harry out or something. And I really dispise Harry with Ginny, but I suppose that's an argument for another day. XD;;

I felt the exact same way. Not only way Ron/Hermione unpleasant, but it was predictable. But at the same time, I really like the dynamics of a Percy/Hermione relationship (if she grew up and helped him loosen up just a bit. Then they can be nerds together), or (especially!) a Fred/Hermione relationship. Who better to help Hermione get over herself? And he's got that mean streak that would fit nicely with hers. Oh, yeah, and he's a freaking genius who figured out complicated spell techniques on his own (with George, obviously. They're both geniuses. Geniusi?). I don't meet many folk who ship those two over the cannon or H/Hr.

I mean, I don't rabidly ship that, just because I knew it would never even happen, because Rowling wasn't that subtle with her relationships. Honestly, the only surprise in the book was Lupin/Tonks. But darn it, the imaginary subtext is fun to find!

Speaking of subtext...your icon makes me snicker. I never thought about taking that quote out of context.
