The only thing I can think of is frybread, but that can be anywhere that has a Native population.

I found out a few years ago that salt potatoes are apparently a regional thing. That was a big surprise.

Uhhh lefse, lutefisk, krumkake, wild rice... Minnesota area food? of course lots of that is actually Scandinavian, but like, lefse is a common holiday food here but other areas of the US aren't familiar with it. also apparently hotdish is a this area thing. and bars (the dessert)? or maybe no one else calls them bars...

Um, fairybread, which is basically just sprinkles (hundreds and thousands) on buttered white bread, often cut into triangles. That might exist outside Australia for all I know.

Aside from that I can't think of anything except, like, Freddos and Caramello Koalas.

Everything in Milwaukee comes from somewhere else! Still, when I moved here it was interesting to see regional differences compared to what I was used to elsewhere in the US - like Greek fast food being far easier to find and German food being a thing.

Meat preserved in brine. Beef, pork, fish, if it's protein, we'll salt it. Then boil the salt out. Then eat it. Usually with potatoes.

Not in my area, but my mom came from Pennsylvania, and as far as I know we are the only people in the area I grew up(southern Illinois) That make macaroni and milk,(Exactly what it says on the tin: cook elbow macaroni, drain it pour in milk, slowly warm the milk over low heat, while adding butter, salt, and pepper to taste.) and macaroni and tomato soup(Boil ground beef, when it's cooked thoroughly, add elbow macaroni. When the macaroni is cooked turn off the heat an add whole peeled tomatoes broken up by hand, or chopped peeled tomatoes. add salt and pepper to taste. You can add other vegetables and stuff, but I prefer the plainer version. Also sorry I don't have any exact measurements of anything. Learning to cook in my family has basically been the "Here are the ingredients, you've seen me do this, you'll figure it out." method.)

Oh, god. Not in Hawaii anymore but totally stealing it for this. Where do I start?

Mochiko chicken, (fresh!) peanut butter mochi, malasadas, manapua, spam musubi, chicken katsu curry, kalua pork, huli-huli chicken, proper shave ice...

Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Frankfurter Grie Soß

Which translates to Frankfurt-style green sauce. It's a sauce made out of hard-boiled eggs, sour cream, borage, sorrel, garden cress, chervil, chives, parsley, and salad burnet.
You sometimes see it outside of my area and it's sold in some supermarkets, but it's often made with the wrong herbs and that's no good.

Farmer's Union Iced Coffee. I don't think I've seen it outside of South Australia.

Also, Dove chocolate bars are a rare find.

Prickly pear candy. Which is no great loss.
I understand nopales, but why make it into a candy? Why is this such a big thing? I remember as a kid being so torn- it'd be dyed lots of pretty colors and as I child i was very attracted to pretty colors, but i hated the taste.

Veda bread. Club orange. Wheaten soda. Vegetable soup made the right way (with barley and soup celery). Gubeen cheese. Soda farls. Buttermilk. Champ. Golden Cow.

When I lived abroad I missed soda bread so much. Yeast bread is okay but just not the same and it hurts my stomach.

This is more a case of a brand I doubt exists outside Australia - Trident Thai Noddle Soup. It's a mildly spicy soup mix that comes with rice noodle squares. It takes 3 minutes to cook the noodles, then you just mix in the flavouring sachets and serve. I like to make up two packets at a time, one chicken, one hot and spicy, mixed together, preferably served with store-bought BBQ chicken meat in it.
I don't know how far outside Australia the Trident brand is sold.

Not a whole type of food, but a way of preparing it. People here (Tucson, AZ) make their tamales with a whole olive in the middle - private homes, not restaurants - with the seed left in. It's a bit of a shock for people who aren't expecting it.
