I started following again since he started reading Discworld. I don't read the comments though, so I have no idea if there is any drama or anything.

I want to submit some but I'm the same way - I have no secrets. There really isn't much that I wouldn't tell just about anyone...

Maybe I could also make some up? Start some trolling, perhaps. I'm terrible at trolling so idk how it would go. :(

Re: Favourite Characters you like to see Whumped?

[personal profile] intrigueing 2014-04-05 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
As a general guideline, the tougher (attitude-wise, not necessarily physically) they are, the more I like it. However, there are a lot of exceptions, usually depending on canon-context.

And sometimes, my whump-craving gets its kicks from seeing a character's mental suffering by proxy from seeing his/her friend hurt, rather than from the friend getting hurt. In these cases, I tend towards preferring to see the tougher one's mental anguish.

I agree completely. She was killed because she got too close to a violent criminal while she was doing her job. That's not fridging. I hate to lose the character and the actress who played her, but it made sense within the story. That's the nature of this type of show.

I had an eye corrective surgery last year and was one of the lucky people who go legally blind for a couple days afterwards. My eyes, when they weren't swollen shut, could only just barely see vague shadows of what was around me. It ratcheted up my empathy towards these situations all too well. I can't help but full-body cringe when someone has their sight messed with in movies.

Who said it did? The point is that sometimes, a person can only access something like a book (or tv show or movie) by pirating it. That's just the way it is.

Yeah you start of kind of hating Burgess Meredith's character, with a "get off my side" vibe. Then it all goes sideways at the end.

Re: Have we talked about CA: Winter soldier yet? (Spoilers inside)

I really enjoyed it which surprised me considering the first cap movie was my least favourite of the solo Marvel movies. It was solidly acted, directed and paced so I think it was pretty well done over all.

I was also really happy about how they handled the characters. Steve wasn't as big a jerk as he was in the avengers, he got to show a lot more of his personality, and Natasha actually got more character development that wasn't shitty.

I also have to praise the stunts, all the way through the first half of the movie they were so well done I'd find myself wincing at some of the hits the characters took. It was really well blocked to make it more realistic. The realism kind of ended around the time of the climatic battle though. Probably so the standard 'blow shit up' moments could happen.

OT-
In my cinema everyone was really focused on the movie and then one of the dramatic reveals happened and a young girl down the front broke the silence with a "No way". The whole audience just started laughing at her at this really inappropriate moment in the movie.

yeah. i was just thinking i need to get off my ass and make some of those secrets i've been meaning to submit...

I always keep my old glasses for backup. (And had to just recently, as one lens decided to ... fall out randomly ... IDEK, man.) You might not be able to see WELL, but at least it's better than wandering around like an extra in a zombie apocalypse.

So then don't participate in that round of the book club and suggest something that is accessible to you for the next one. Sometimes people can't afford things and that's OK. The idea of stealing luxury items you can't afford isn't.

Didn't there used to be a rule here about not promoting piracy?

*headtilt*

Christians are not in denial that Jesus was Jewish...though some do seem to forget. And it makes sense that that NT has more focus since that's where Jesus came in and it superseded a lot of the literal bits of the OT. Not that the former isn't important, but that's more like "have some history and context" than actual stuff about the focal point of Christianity. at least that's how I see it.
