Er, "greyromantic" is a term for people who are not sure they're aromantic or romantic. It's generally used in the asexual community.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
So is "grey" the definitively label for "unsure"? Because some definitions of "greysexual" I've been provided seem to be the exact same things people use for demisexual. "Demi", I take to mean "sometimes this, sometimes that".

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Demisexual is people who just cannot have sex with people without a lengthy emotional connection. I think of grey-ace as someone who may not particularly enjoy sex, but isn't sex-repulsed and will have sex for a variety of reasons. Demis and greys have a little bit of overlap, but one is not necessarily the other.

And why would such a person not fall into the "normal" sexual spectrum? Furthermore, this makes the previously given definition of "greyromantic" completely meaningless.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

I think the "normal" sexual spectrum is expected to enjoy sex.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Then they are just asexual. If you don't like sex, you are asexual. That's it.

Too ~boring~ and not nearly *~unique~* enough.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
My favorite is "demiromantic", which as far as I can understand is supposed to mean "can only fall in love with people they have an emotional connection with". Er ............... that's what love is lmao.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Demiplatonic. You can only be friends with people you have an emotional connection with. You know, unlike those normals who are friends with people they don't know at all or hate.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Right! I knew there was something ridiculous I was forgetting.

This one is my favorite, but honorable mention should go to queerplatonic. It's friendship, but, I don't know, queer somehow? Maybe you listen to a lot of Tegan and Sara when you hang out? Is there a queer handshake involved? I have so many questions and so few answers.

I can't really blame them for being confused by the term. With all the special snoflakey terms that come out of tumblr. It's hard to keep up with what isn't bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'M A LITHROMATIC DEMIPLATONIC POMOSEXUAL AND YOU DON'T OWN ME!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
(Imagines anon hugging a rock while fucking a Pomeranian and figuring out how to dodge an acquaintance who expects they'll be swapping emails any time now)

(imagines anon fucking a postmodernist while a half-bust of Plato looks on)

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Breakdown for those who don't know: Lithromantic is "I fall in love with people but I don't want them to reciprocate", demiplatonic is "I'm only friends with people I like", and pomosexual is "I do not have a sexuality that another term exists for". Alternately, pomosexuality may mean "a postmodern approach to sexuality". It depends on whether you trust Wiktionary or Urban Dictionary more.

Thank you, Google. (Define x is a miracle sometimes.)

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
And THIS right here is why people are having a hard time taking asexuality seriously.

They're shooting themselves in the foot with all these labels.

Pretty sure lithromantic and demiplatonic mean: "I have trust issues!"

And pomosexuality means: "I am a pretentious little shit."

If pomosexuality is anything like the pomo art movement, it's primarily based around masturbation.

I saw a tumblr post the other day that said 'if you use the term special snowflake then I automatically think you're a transphobe.'

I had to rest my head on something because the sheer stupidity overwhelmed me.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
heheheheeheheheheh. I hope they were serious because that would make it 10 times more hilarious.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ha wow except none of these terms came from Tumblr? They're all actual terms.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
This is absolutely not intended to be snide or insulting, but could you please define "actual terms" for me? Also not intended to be insulting, why do you say none of them came from Tumblr? Thank you for your answers.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"greyromantic" is not a fucking thing omg.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
What would that have to do with what sounds like a platonic romantic fic?
