SPOILERS

The fans that are upset that they added in that scene with Brienne and Jamie's sister are hilarious. GRRM wrote that episode, so it's pretty much canon.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that too. You won't believe the mental gymnastics purists will get into to show that GRRM is actually helpless a victim of D&D

Oh and Tywin being 'OOC' for protecting Tommen

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
GRRM doesnt write every scene in his episodes. He's said about 80% is his stuff.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
lmao

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm sure that 20% consists exactly of scenes you, personally, didn't like.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and that's reasonably industry standard. Staff writers write episodes, showrunners homogenize it for consistency. ThisIsBrandNewInformation.gif

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
So much reaching there.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Lol at all the "reaching" comments. Benioff and Weiss were the ones who added the castration scene in season 3 and the random naked lady sexposition bit with Sandor and Bronn.

There was a naked lady in that scene? I was too busy shipping it to notice.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
And those naked ladies changed the course of the story and the characterization... how exactly?

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
How about there's no need for it and if you need graphic nudity to keep the audience interested you have failed as a writer?

YEAH

I'M TIRED OF ALL THE GRAPHIC NUDITY IN MY SERIES BASED ON BOOKS THAT ARE PRETTY FRANK ABOUT EVERYTHING INCLUDING BOOBS

IT'S UNNECESSARY IN MY MURDEROUS INCEST DRAGON FUNTIMES

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I am down with Sandor and Bronn being in a scene together, so I see no problem there. Missed opportunity in the book, if anything.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
so what was the problem with those scenes, that they had grinding in them? How is that changing anything about what GRRM wrote at all.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
They're examples of stuff not in GRRM's original script.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
gasp the random naked ladies then must mean that Brienne/Jaime was totes not canon

Re: SPOILERS

But Theon's castration was heavily implied in ADWD.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Theon is castrated, I think anon is saying that the two women arousing him was the thing GRRM didn't write.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
And that's the difference between the books and the show. The books imply the horrific stuff Ramsay does, the show feels the need to rub it in our faces. You can't just show Theon after the fact and put two and two together, you have to have two naked ladies molesting him before having Ramsay come out and castrate him.

Re: SPOILERS

Not referring to that particular scene but the show in general but I think GRRM understands that the book and the show are different canons, so when he's writing for the show he's writing the show canon, not the book canon.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No he never said that. He has even said that he prefers certain scenes in the show over the ones he had made in the books, like the Drogo/Dany scene.

Re: SPOILERS

[personal profile] othellia 2014-04-17 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
What Dany/Drogo scene? Their wedding night?

If so, I'm side-eying anyone's preference for cut-to-black rape over cut-to-black consensual seduction.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
He didn't say it's hotter or anything, just that it was more realistic.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2014-04-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
They're both rape, but the book version was worse. I just can't get over the fact that Dany was thirteen iirc on their wedding night in the book. I know, I know the world pf tge series sucks, but damn.
