Went through my mail this morning and found out I got a ticket from one of those traffic cameras. I did a rolling stop/right hand turn on a red light instead of a full one. Not going to argue it since they've got the video and everything, but I'm still $124 shorter than I was before I woke up. :(

What the hell, Marvel fandom. I've been obsessing over the fics, but the number of Natasha-bashing fics i've come across boggles my mind.

Also, the few fics where Bucky is still brainwashed and he and Steve have sex in that mode and the author doesn't warn or mention that things will be that way at all bugs me. Really not looking for dubcon portrayed as consensual.

That's annoying. I love dubcon, but only when it's portrayed as fucked up. Otherwise it hits all my "nope. nope nope nope nope" buttons.

Thanks, anon. Your link is for California though, so not sure if any of that applies here.

Regardless, I think I'm just going to go ahead and pay it. The light they caught me at is the one right next to my apartment complex. I go through it almost every day. Don't remember what I did that particular morning, but due to the weird way the lights are synchronized, there's a certain point in the cycle where if you miss it by a second, you're stuck waiting there for the next five minutes. And I know there's been at least one time that I've rushed it.

If it was just picture evidence, I'd argue it. If it was something that'd end up going on my driving record and insurance, I'd argue it. But it's not, so... yeah.

I hardly ever get to see my girlfriend and things are only going to get worse when she finishes law school which is the only reason she lives in my area right now and I don't know where she's going to end up after that and what's going to happen and I'm getting so sick of worrying about this. I wish at least one thing in my life had some certainty.

So, you want me to lead this project/committee, but you want to show up to ever meeting, talk over everyone, ADMIT THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT WE'RE DOING BUT KEEP INTERRUPTING BECAUSE "I'm not the engineering type. I'm creative." shoot down everyone's ideas but offer none of your own, drive away the stakeholders I recruited, and blow up at me over e-mail. Then, when I ask someone else to mediate during our meeting, please inform me that as the chair, you will be conducting the meeting.

This is my volunteer ass walkin' out the door.

Moral of the story: don't ever volunteer for anything ever.

Though I'd amend your moral to "don't ever volunteer for anything where you'll have any management/leadership responsibilities ever."

Best volunteer positions I've had were shelving used books at a non-profit bookstores and being a conversation partner in an ESL school. Anything that requires more than showing up at x-time each week and starts, well, requiring you to be there? Nope. I'm out.

Why do my friends take forever and half to plan any gathering ever? Even if it's something like, "I'll have to wait until [date] when I know what next month's schedule looks like", it's polite to let the person who asked about availability know that within a week or so of the initial invite, right? It causes me undue anxiety NOT KNOWING if I can plan other things around us going to the Ren Faire on a given May weekend, when I asked on April 2.

I love these people, but their lax scheduling and timeliness habits pain my soul.

I have been throwing up literally everything I've eaten for four days. My entire torso feels like it's on fire. I thought it was a stomach bug or something and that it would go away, but now I'm beginning to think I should actually go to a doctor or something.

There is nothing so incredibly miserable as non-stop vomiting. I would like the entirety of the world and most particularly my entire digestive tract to go away.

I've been rewatching the old Justice League cartoon (my kids are finally old enough, woo!) and I'm bitter all over again about Jon Stewart and Hawkgirl's unresolved Epic Love. WHY CAN'T MY OTPS JUST BE HAPPY.

wow that is maddening.

I didn't know they actually installed those cameras (ones that are actually allowed to ticket people). That makes me really, really uncomfortable. :(

Also, I do not think what you did is actually dangerous. It's just to make money for the police and not actually for any kind of protective measure. And for some people that is a LOT of money (I don't even have $124 right now).

So there's this girl in my fandom who has the biggest victim complex. She blames everything on the "BNFs" (meaning people she doesn't like who get more reviews than her apparently), and is convinced that everything is misogyny. People saying fanservice outfits are sexist: SLUTSHAMING. People wishing women got more time in the story: UNFAIR DOUBLE STANDARDS. People wishing girls got to do more than be love interests: SHAMING TRADITIONAL FEMININITY. Pants on head anger about obviously good intentioned posts and fics and stuff with a side of bizarre possessiveness. "Get your paws off (heroine)!!!!" Only a slight paraphrase.
She seems to think she's doing the fandom a favor and ~~~~~sticking it to the elitist BNFs~~~~~ but she's really just a huge bully. I really want to tear into one of her stupid posts that occasionally crosses my dash, but considering what she and her tiny clique say and do about anyone but the most sycophantic asskissers, I know it won't go anywhere good.
The best part is knowing that if she saw this, she'd immediately claim I was a """""BNF sockpuppet""""". Because no one else would ever think she was out of line. I barely even know the people she hates s much jfc I just want her to take her hypocritical bs and leave. Or at least stop changing her url so I can blacklist it damn it.

Sometimes I hate society. Sometimes I hate that, as a child, I'm expected to respect my parents and listens to what they say, to put family honor before personal desire, so to speak. I hate that as a kid I was berated because I yelled at my dad for yelling at our mom and us and breaking stuffs when he is drunk. I hate that my cousin thinks it's completely resonable for her to decide her children's future for them. I hate that I know the moment I graduate from university people will start asking me if or when I get married, like they ask my sister. I hate that when I say I want to stay single they say I haven't met the right person or that I'm immature. I hate the whole "Kids these days" kind of thinking, and don't even get me started on stuffs like homosexuality and gay marriage. I hate the people who use "tradition" to justifies their selfish views. I know that it is changing, that people are becoming more tolerant and open minded, but these kinds of thinking is still there and a lot of people still take it as absolute, and it's so fucking stupid.

I do care about traditions, but traditions are meant to evolve and altered with time, not forever stuck in the feudalism. Saying that people should not be allowed to get married simply because of the way they are born is not "for the good of society", you are just a fucking bigot.

I don't even know why I'm ranting about this now. All of this has happened some times ago and yet here I am ranting anonymously on Fandom secrets. I guess it's all just... burst out? Like a ballon being blown too big and can't keep it in. I don't know.
