I have a writing question, and I figured others might have their own questions.

Genderbent fic question

For those of you who read genderbent fics, what do you look for? How much do you want the characters to change and how much do you want them to stay the same? How much do you want gender to affect the actual plot.

A contest winner who won a fic from me requested a female version of the particular slash ship the contest was about. I've never written a genderbent fic and they said they didn't really care what they wanted.

I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how much gender should impact the plot and characters. On the one hand, the fandom is Tolkien, so there tend to be some more gender roles and ways female characters are vs. male characters. On the other hand, the two characters are basically evil angel/gods who wouldn't really care about convention or what people thought of them.

I'm taking a creative writing seminar which happens to have a focus on literary fiction, and I need to produce writing for the course.
I was looking through my stuff thinking of what to develop/continue for this class, and pondering why so little of it seems to me to "fit" what should be brought to class (and no, I will not be one of Those People who bring fic), and it occurred to me that one of the reasons it doesn't fit is that my writing has taken a turn for the humorous in recent years.

And then I wondered: is it just my perception, or is most literary fiction not really funny? I was trying to think of something that is, but all I can come up with is Wodehouse and does that really count as literary fiction?
I'll probably bring it up for class, but I'm curious if any of you have thoughts on the matter and it might help me figure out what to write for class, too

there's this person in an rp community that's went off on a friend and became extremly hostile to me in the process. and i just can't stop bitching about her. i'd say about every third day i'll remember to make a dig at her in conversation with someone else, or tell someone who doesn't know yet the story. i also keep checking on what her char is doing even though i know it will only annoy me (though that's at least somewhat understandable because her char has distantly to do with mine. idk)


so. how do i stop? i'm didn't even bear the worst of her stupid behaviour but i get so mad on my friend's behalf.
