I think that's what Gurren Lagann was meant to be though. (by the mediocrity thing you said)
I remember people on /a/ saying it was the greatest parody, and i remember another friend saying that the anime had everything an anime should have all squished together into one series. And that's basically what it is.
Don't think of it as some mind-boggling anime with a great twist etc. just take it how it is, just watch the episodes and relax and let the scenes and the characters win you over.
I know i sound like a complete douche bag, but don't take the anime seriously, it's meant to be over the top and stupid.
At least give it another chance?

Yeah, it's not that I hate the games, but I'm too used to SatAM to really like most of the cast and the plots. SatAM's pretty good, though, and it's out on DVD and on Youtube if you ever wanna see it.

3. Coming from someone who faps to this anime's mediocrity, I do know where you're coming from. D8 I couldn't get into Ouran at all and while I'm not saying it's a crappy anime, I just... didn't like it. ROTF. If you can't get into something, then you just can't get into something. D8

The fandom/RP/art is fun and all, but it's nothing special that you can't find elsewhere. HAHAH. Seriously, if the anime itself doesn't click for you I doubt you'd have fun RPing it.

#3 - Hear hear. I know I'm not supposed to take it seriously, but even when I'm not, it sucks. Maybe I've been too spoiled on the good shit, and while I do like some of the characters, the plot is just... a waste of time. I only watched up to about two episodes post-timeskip and nothing is motivating me to continue!

I know what you mean. Two of my friends are wildly in love with it, and I watched the first four episodes hoping to love it like them, and I just...I found it so boring. Simon was cute, but Kamina wasn't as cool as everyone said he was. And Yoko had no believable personality or motivation. "I love defending my village! It's all I have! But I'll randomly go with these two guys on what could be the stupidest mission ever! Because I'm THE CHICK!"

Don't get me wrong, the animation is neat and I love the mecha designs, but when everyone's raving about how it's the most amazing show ever, that's not enough to sustain me through the series. But I really want to love it so I can babble about it with my friends. :'(

...I'll keep watching, at least until episode 8. But I don't know. :/
