Re: So I don't exist, now?

God, so true. My husband will ask why I don't buy Batman or Superman or whatever and I'm like, fuck those guys.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
This would be absolutely amazing and I strongly encourage you to do it.
I'm glad to see someone else uses this game to unwind. It's so perfect for that.

XD
you know what. I like him too. not in a sexual way but I can totally get the attraction! Normal people not liking this idea, are boring.

Re: Advice?

If he's your best friend it's normal to be possessive. I think it's like how a family could be possessive of a new gf or bf. I haven't seen it in reality, but it's a theme in movies when a sibling is jealous of a hero's gf, or a kid of their parent's romantic interest. In Psych there was a fraze, I don't think it's a spoiler, it goes something like this:
"Date us, I mean me. If you're ok with my best friend Gus as a part of a deal"

Or when two friends in a movie have a crush on the same person and don't want to fight over it, so neither of them go after this crush.

Sometimes a person doesn't want to share their friend's attention and time with someone else. It's ok as long as this person doesn't interfere. Romantic relationship is usually exclusive and close, maybe that's why you think it could be attraction on your part.

Also fandom ships' dynamics are kinda removed from reality, even without soulmate AUs and a/b/o, so maybe you read fics too much or take them too seriously? Just a thought.

Woah, woah, you're a 25-year-old woman and you literally don't know *any* of the people in that age group who started picking up stuff like JiM or Young Avengers after the Thor movie? Seriously? I call bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
DA

I think it's complete bullshit interesting that the two formats that women comics readers tend to prefer--digital and trades--are also the two formats that aren't counted when determining how well a title's selling. I'm not calling this a conspiracy or anything; but I do think that if it were male comics readers leading this shift in buying habits, the industry would be far more likely to change their data sources for sales figures.

Same here. I saw The Avengers, needed more Natasha in my life, bought Black Widow: The Name of the Rose and loved it, and I've been buying comics semi-regularly (and/or getting my local library to buy them for me :-)) since then.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Anon The Ghostbusters cartoon (eventually retitled The Real Ghostbusters) was based on the live action tv series The Ghostbusters (1975) not the movie.

Or maybe it just means you click so well together because you really do have similar tastes in shows and books?

I will be so mad if Contests don't come back. Those were my absolute FAVORITE thing in Gen 3.

What...?

Re: Bread

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can't find multi-grain, get whole wheat. In fact, try to get whole wheat generally.

Re: What shows have you started watching just for a ship?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel this is like a smart alec/ trick answer. But I'm okay with it. I hope they don't find out, lol

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT. Huh. I didn't think about it in those terms. I don't know if it's so much latent sexism as it is part of inherent "we don't want no new people!" attitude that seems to pervade the comics industry. Which tends to go hand in hand with sexism, sure. But I think it's just that concept that some geeks seem to have of other (especially new) geeks "doing it wrong" if they do anything at all differently from Times Gone By.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh indeed. I don't follow this Spiderman comic but I totally know what you mean about "Jacob syndrome". Jacob was... just there. I didn't hate him, I didn't love him, he just did nothing for me. It was really disappointing when compared with all the other quirky characters in the game. I really wanted to like Jacob but didn't find anything to grasp onto.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I mean, it's possible, but only if anon also completely isolates themselves from the social media of their peers. Presumably because they "aren't like those other girls." Shoot, Loki's got his own series now (again), and it's pretty good stuff so far.

Seriously, I am loving this Loki push, not so much because I liked him in the movies (I did, but mythologically I've always had a soft spot for him), but because the books that revolve around him feel like spiritual successors to Sandman--stories about stories. Love. It.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. I mean, I'd been pretty hardcore DC until the nu52 stripped everything I loved about the 'verse away and replaced it with grimdark and bad PR. But then Avengers came out and Marvel seemed to be actively trying to court female readers, and making their books accessible to new readers in general (I love the way Hawkeye opens--that one iconic shot from all the trailers. "This guy. It's about this guy from the movies. Caught up? Good."), and...yeah, they had good timing.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That IS the question, isn't it.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
With the monkey? No it wasn't.

"The nick fury in the movies is nick fury. he's not the son of the real nick fury, ala nick fury jr."

He could be. We don't really know anyone at SHIELD's backstory. But it's been there for awhile.

But still...why does it matter?

Thor himself was great in TWD! He was hilarious and hot and so brave; I loved him. I loved his moments with Loki as well, I'm just tired of Loki's manipulation and him always getting away with shit.

I would probably keep watching too, but it would be close to hate watching. At least for a while. I would be that person who watches a Marvel movie and says, “If STEVE were here” every five minutes. Rogers can't die. He can't, he's a ray of sunshine and the MCU needs a character like him. Bucky needs him! Damn you Marvel, don't touch that pretty face.

Waaay behind (stopped watching around the part with the electrified floor), but Scott/Stiles, Scott/Isaac, Scott/Allison, and Allison/Lydia were always my favs. I'm pretty vanilla with this show haha. Oh, I also liked Scott/Derek during S1.

Why the capitals...

Re: All of these white tears and not enough buckets to hold them.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, everyone who disagrees with you must be white. Of course. There is not a single black person in all of creation who might have a different take on this from you.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Calm down. It's gonna be okay.
