perfect anime remake

(Anonymous) 2014-05-12 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
You get one anime remade, and its perfect, what do you want remade/rebooted?

I want a Fruits Basket remake, since the manga is done and all. I mean, I liked the anime, but the manga has so much more!

...Plus then we'd get an animated version of "Sorta Cinderella"!

Mahou Sensei Negima, remade so it's perfectly loyal to the manga. So many amazing fight scenes and other moments that were never animated :(

Haha, man, I'm glad the Fruits Basket anime ended where it did. I didn't like the direction the manga took after that. Same with Ouran.

Berserk.

It could be so god damn good if you did half the manga justice, if only for the visuals, let alone everything else. And there's so much material to adapt.

Weiss Kreuz!

No plot holes!
Good animation!
More slash fodder!

That would be great. Speaking of Koyasu projects, I want a damn Velvet Underworld anime.

I want a Yu Yu Hakusho remake with as much as the original cast back as possible and the Three Kings Arc fixed and made into the epic storyline it could have been.

Ai no Kusabi. Longer with more stuff from the books, and more sex scenes.

Wait... wasn't that supposed to happen and it didn't or something...

A Rurouni Kenshin remake with Megumi Ogata voicing Kenshin like she did in the drama CDs. I want my fucking Jinchu Arc, damn it. I was so disappointed that it wasn't animated when they announced those movies a year or two ago.

Re: perfect anime remake - Ranma One Half

[personal profile] skippydelicious 2014-05-12 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to have to come back to Ranma. I'd love to see how Ranma 1/2 would play out in our more gender conscious age (yes, even in Japan) and less family honor focused (even moreso in Japan) lifestyle. I'm sure that it could be just as funny, but I'm just not sure how. Also the advances in animation, especially with CGI, would make fight scenes seem magnificent.

I'd like to see another attempt at Pumpkin Scissors after the manga ends. It reminds me of a more grounded and down-to-earth Fullmetal Alchemist, which is saying something considering how methodical the FMA manga was in building a consistent and believable world.

Wings of Honnemaise. It would be perfect now, so the weird religious subplot would be rewritten so it made sense, and the amazing visual aesthetic would be intact, and I could stop being the only fan of it.

See, I'm torn.

I'd want a Shaman King remake that follows the manga but tightens the pace, smooths the edges, lengthens the final arcs, and gives every character their due development.

But I'd also kill for a One Piece remake. Something that doesn't try to stretch every 16-page chapter into 25-minute episodes so that it isn't shock-full of filler and minute-long reaction shots, that doesn't have shitty sound mixing, and that puts some effort into the dynamic fights and pacing of the manga.

I think I'd go for Shaman King tho, since the manga is so imperfect and I'd love to see it fixed.

Skip Beat! I was so excited when I found out the studio that did Princess Tutu was doing Skip, because Tutu was BEAUTIFUL. But they really slashed the budget on Skip. The production values were so low. About the only thing I really liked from it was Sho's "Prisoner" song.

I'd love to have Skip animated on par with Ouran, since they're both crazy comedies. I want the whole shebang, especially Reino's arcs. (And fix Yashiro's hair, it's pale pale brown, not that horrid dark brownish gray!)

Honestly? Pokémon. Not the Origins short thing that I honestly thought was a bit meh, but an actual, fully-fleshed out anime that's not afraid to be a bit more mature and that's based directly on the games.

Gundam Wing. Not only with better art, updated technology, a more streamlined plot, and so on, but with a more realistic vision of a future that isn't exclusively white European with a light sprinkling of Asians (seriously, one part of the series is set on the African continent and there are literally no black people, not even in the background, it was surreal). Also, just make Trowa and Quatre official boyfriends already. I didn't even ship it back in day and it was barely subtext.

Bleach but only once the manga's finished.

Decent studio, first string animators, NO FILLER ARCS*, same seiyuu, same glorious omakes like Shinigami Golden & Quincy Encyclopedia, with the pacing tightened and the big boring fights made more visually interesting.

*the filler episodes made from the omake in the volumes and color spreads were pretty cute, so they can stay too.

Tsubasa Chronicle, because it needs it so much -- the OAVs are fine but the anime series was just so completely awful. I'd like a new anime that follows the manga proper with no filler, doesn't suck all the personality out of the cast, covers all the manga arcs blood and all and has actually decent animation (the old soundtrack can stay, though. That was basically the anime's one good point).

Kodocha. The anime adaption veered off into this weird direction and never came back.

I would have said Gakuen Alice but the last parts of the manga were a train wreck and I was really sickened to learn that the father/daughter relationship I thought the adult man who raised one of the girls from infancy had turned out to be child grooming. God, she got pregnant at fourteen to the man who raised her since she was a baby. What the hell Japan? Yes I know Sana's mother had her uncle's baby at fourteen, but that was a one mention thing and wasn't built up or anything /rantover

Inu-Yasha, with 90% of the filler removed.
Actually, I could say the same about Naruto too.

Dragon Ball (Z) redone as the way it was originally supposed to be. No GT.

Take the reboot manga for Gundam Wing and remake that. Art and and all.

Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: The Glory of the Defeated.

PLEASE

All of the background info from Episode Zero, that "lost" episode thingy they never showed (i don't think), the reveals that are a bit earlier, the build up makes more sense, and not to mention the epic Gundam designs that fit far better with Endless Waltz's designs.

I want a remake of Houshin Engi. There was an official petition put out by Shomei TV years ago announcing their intention to remake it if they got 10,000 signatures. It got enough signatures yet nothing came of it. I'm still so bitter about it.
