Re: The DC movies are really, really going to suck.

Personally I think DC have misjudged it, the dark and serious zeitgeist seems to be pretty much over. The stuff I see people talking about these days are the more upbeat and less serious stuff.

Hey, no judgement here.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
You can choose to treat someone with love however.

Anyone who chooses to become a parent, in my opinion, is choosing to put the life of someone else before their own.

That's what being a parent means.

If you didn't have a choice in becoming a parent, that's different.

It was a throwaway joke line about the fact that Amy is much taller than Clara (in a situation where that was relevant), not ~ROSE LOVED DRUGS~

for pete's sake

I love you, case. Sorry I spammed.

Case I love you.

And that wasn't patronizing, BTW. I honestly think you need therapy.

Movies based on comics always suck.

In other news, the sky is blue.

It's sad because I can tell you right out the comics have plenty of snark and witty banter to them. But Warner Brothers has decided the David Goyer formula is the only one worth using (and Goyer himself is kind of a hack who believes his own hype) and so we get crap like this.

This sounds like a lot more fun than writing "character name" in a repetitive or awkward-sounding fashion in your first draft before editng, like I think most people do :) I may try it next time.

Baby rhinos are the most adorable things ever.

What are you looking forward to?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2014-08-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
What movies/books/games/events/etc are you looking forward to? Be it soon for a year from now.

I find myself looking forward to Jurassic World. Didn't really like JP 2 or 3 BUT this one has Chris Pratt and BD Wong (which I find awesome they are bringing his character back). I am also looking forward to Age of Ultron. But I am not looking forward to avoiding spoilers. Going to have to get early tickets for that.

In real life news, I am looking forward to a trip to New York. Though I may have to put it off until March 2016 so that I can save enough money to get a nice hotel. Fortunately Lion King has no plans to quit their Broadway run anytime soon (I asked :P).

What about you all?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I find the "father's shitty weak genes" part to be more disturbingly interesting, myself. I can see an argument being made for most men being some amount of shitty, but genes, whaaaaa? What do genes have to do with anything in this context??

Re: Good news/bad news

Bad News: I didn't have the courage to ring up the current adviser of my juco newspaper staff to see if they'd be interested in meeting an alum who's had a variety of good internships and now works full-time in the field, which means I also don't think I'll be going to the home-opening football game, as they were my plan to have someone to sit near during it.

Good News: That's money I don't really have that I don't have to spend, and I get to enjoy a lengthy vacation at home instead of traveling halfway across the state.

Good news: I am going to New York
Bad news: I have to wait two years to save up money.

Good news: I have lost a lot of weight.
Bad news: I have plateaued and not lost any in weeks.

Good news: I got a lot of work done today at school and I had blueberry pancakes for lunch.
Bad news: I slipped on the stairs coming home and did something to my back. It has been spasming for the last two and a half hours. And my tendonitis is still acting up.

Good news: I had some eucalyptus Epsom salts in the closet.
Bad news: The water in my bath ended up just being lukewarm.

Good news: Fall is coming soon.
Bad news: It was in the 90s today and my air conditioner wasn't working.

Yes, of course you can treat someone with love...

I just sort of don't believe that nothing will ever made that façade crack over 18 years and more.

And kids are perceptive - that's what I mean with them picking up on it. Chances are, even if you treat them equally, kids will know who's the favourite (if there is one).

A thread for all things Sims!

I've got a couple threads I want to make, so I'll get them set up in a second, but consider this just what it says on the tin.

Ross was really bitchy towards him, he really cared for her and she was all like "doctaaah" and then like "but mickey no wait" and then "but my doctaah" MAKE YOUR MIND UP, DAMMIT.

You should check out the Rhino episode of My Wild Affair. It is kind of depressing because of what happens, but it is full of heartwarming stuff. Can't reccomend that series enougb.

On a more conventional note, I'd like to introduce the final boss of the Internet.

And the bonus boss:

As someone who genuinely enjoys the Nolanverse Batman trilogy, this is unnecessary and sounds unpleasant. "No jokes ever" is not a good start. People need bits of humor, even in serious films. (Especially in serious films.)

Dark works for Batman, but I don't see why every one of their films need to have the same tone. WTH, DC. Look at Marvel; people enjoy lighthearted films, too.
