How about a guy who's not evil because life has never given him the opportunity to be? He's got no concern for human life or other people's existence as real beings, but he's also got no real ambition or power. Like if Adolf Eichmann were still just a bland, shitty little order-follower, but instead of the architect of the Holocaust, he was a telemarketer or a Buzzfeed editor or a barista.

Obviously, it doesn't make sense why this would be since the connection is coming through the router and you'd think if it didn't work on the computer it wouldn't work on the phone, either, but that's how it was. I guess the issue must be with the way the connection is on the computer itself vs. other devices connected to it, if that makes any sense. Either way, when we switched services it stopped happening, but I guess it's possible the person hooking up the new service changed some settings on the computer around or something.

...sorry, I don't think I'm much help.

I love Markiplier. He's cute and handsome but also an enormous dork. Not the most pro of gamers but it just lets me identify with his vids more lol. I like his entheusiasm.

I had the same thing happen at my mom's house, and it ended up being the wireless router. It was intermittent dropping of the internet, but different devices. So, the iPad might be fine, but my laptop would drop, and a reboot would cure it. Next time around, my laptop would be fine, but my brother's would drop. The internet connectivity would drop for some of us, but not all. Just to point out that it could still be your modem.

It took a long time to figure out it was the modem, and what tipped me off eventually was that sometimes the individual reboots wouldn't work, but rebooting the modem would. Eventually, it just quit giving out internet altogether.

If you think it's your computer, first thing I'd do is update your wireless network drivers. I'm on WinXP at the moment, so can't give you direct instructions, but look at your hardware devices (maybe right-click My Computer and properties or manage?). Find your wireless network driver, and if you check the properties for it, you should see a version number and a date for the drivers.

Then go to the manufacturer's website, go to Support> Download Drivers (or some similar combination of menu names), find the latest and greatest drivers for your computer. Often, a driver update will fix it. Sometimes you get driver updates through Windows, but best to go straight to the manufacturer if you're having problems.

I'm amused by all the people surprised by this. My family started watching Jackie Chan movies right about the time he started speaking English or re dubbing his older movies, so it was painfully obvious to me as a kid that dude sounded nothing like him.

ayrt

it's tiring because it's so disproportionate, the stories tend to blur eventually because they always RAMP UP THE DUH-RAMA (excuse my sarcasm there is more to follow). Especially when it's ~FORBIDDEN LOVE~ and I'm supposed to feel bad because society is so against their love for some reason*. So yeah. I feel you anon.

*irl, any relationship can be difficult, gay people are not the only people who struggle, and class and/or race differences in a relationship can lead to a lot of outside pressure and discrimination. I'm talking about fiction, and in fiction I can only see the same conflict play through so many times.

Re: How often do you shampoo/condition your hair?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm once or twice a week. I find that if I wash it too frequently, my hair becomes frizzy and flyaway, so every 4 or 5 days seems to work. BUT, I should also point out that I do also wash my hair less frequently because it's dyed red, and that color loses its vibrancy very quickly when washed.

I'm guessing my hair isn't as greasy as some others, and my color definitely isn't as permanent. :)

Because I'm lazy, I always use a combination 2-in-1 shampoo conditioner, so I condition every time I shampoo it.

This is honestly the first time I think I've seen someone criticize SJWs in general but be reasonable about it. *golf clap*

My childhood is a lie. I guess as a kid it never occurred to me that anyone else but Jackie would voice Jackie.

Well, my age means I haven't had a lot of chance to enjoy these movies yet. Before now (I'm nineteen), my parents were more or less the arbiters of what movies I could watch, due to money, access, and exposure to them. If I'd said I didn't like them, I could understand your disappointment, but give me a chance, here.

Naruto anon, you are a saviour. I never would have guess Naruto would have so spectacularly fallen part when I was a teen. How many chapters are left?

Why has it be so slow lately here?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not gonna yell that f!s is dead or anything, but it's really been slow for the past few and feels like a few regulars have left. :/

Twice a week right now.

This, very much.

But add the film Roberta (if you can find it), because even though Astaire/Rogers only had second billing, their dancing is FABULOUS.

For example, their "I'm Too Hot to Handle" tapdance duet:

I guess just that it's so outside my own experience it's hard to relate to?

I'm sure everyone has moments like that about something! You seem very self-aware so I think you'll be okay. Again, it doesn't make you a bad person, it's just a thing you got hung up on.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
The reason it's most prominent with white people is because they're the ones who have cultural and economic dominance and thus can exert privilege.

Except for places where they don't. Yes, they do exist.

Nice US-centrism, there.
