Re: Why has it be so slow lately here?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Probably just people getting in some end-of-summer vacation or something.

Re: Finding it hard to identify with people/characters of a different sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Same, except rather than relationship, the sex part.

I love relationships and romance... but chaste. Haha.

Health insurance question?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
In the US, is there a general rule on if you are on someone's health insurance plan, can that person see what you do with their insurance? If there isn't a rule, is that something I could contact my insurance provider to find out? I am in college and am considering going to a psychologist for services not provided by the school's counselors, but I very much don't want my father (whose plan I am on obviously) finding that out. :/

Re: Why has it be so slow lately here?

Some of it is probably school starting up for people. Some of it is probably the trolling and subsequent IP logging being on. Some of it is probably a circular thing - it's slower so people post less so it's slower etc. Some of it is probably just the dog days of summer.

But of course the most important reason is that F!S IS DYING!!!!!!!!!!!

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
It seems to me to be a waste of energy to get upset about problematic elements in old movies. Yes, there are things in there that can make a modern viewer cringe, but unless you find a TARDIS, there is absolutely nothing you can do about them. Getting angry won't erase them from existence.

That said, it's completely your friends prerogative not to watch these old movies if they don't want to (though, I can't imagine they could fairly judge them without ever seeing them). But they shouldn't try to shame you for enjoying them.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this is what I came here to say.

Re: Why has it be so slow lately here?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Does IP logging really change it that much? I've always figured people who care enough use a VPN and everyone else just posts as usual.

I know how you feel, OP. Sort of. I try to imagine loving a girl (I'm a straight female) like I'd love a man, emotionally, and I just can't. I see gay relationships being just as real as straight, but there's this tiny little part of me that thinks that a gay woman or man can't possibly love their partner the way I love mine. But hopefully this means I just can't identify with it.

Re: Why has it be so slow lately here?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Like, it's never bothered me at all, but you do see people complaining about it, and seemingly feeling strongly about it. Which I would assume they wouldn't, if they were using a VPN. Just yesterday there was someone talking about not wanting to post in a thread about kinks because IP logging was on.

IDK. But it does seem like it's an issue for people.

Shopping for things like clothes. I used to love it, but now when I do it it feels like a chore.

Re: How often do you shampoo/condition your hair?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I wash my hair once a week, usually. More if my hair actually gets dirty/sweaty.

And I don't use vinegar but one of my friends does. I don't know how she feels (I mean she likes it but I don't know in detail) but I know it makes her hair smell really nice.

Also one of my other friends uses another natural not-shampoo (idk what) and she was telling me the other day that when you initially switch to natural shampoo your hair gets really greasy, because your scalp produces extra oil to keep up with the chemicals of shampoo, but then after a few weeks it goes back to normal. IDK I thought that was interesting.

So what do you do in your relationship like

Constantly stroke his beard

Gaze upon his penis

Casually mention your vagina

Participate in mixed doubles tennis tournaments

Wow, he's really freaked out! Beautiful. I love seeing people get the shit scared out of them. Maybe it makes me feel better about being scared in games myself, idk. (Though this one doesn't seem that frightening, the atmosphere is probably a lot more intense when you're playing. Still, it seems kind of uneventful so maybe I'll watch him play a different game. He has a lovely voice; the secret maker was right about that!)

Thanks!
Edited (Oh, the secret maker didn't mention his voice... Well, whatever, he still has a hot voice.) 2014-08-29 02:31 (UTC)

Re: Health insurance question?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-29 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
If your father's address is listed on the policy, then that's where your EOBs (explanation of benefits, a statement telling whether or not any treatments you received were covered by insurance, and if/how much you owe for them) will be sent. They should have your name on them, but if he's the type of person to open your mail, he'll likely be curious what they're for and will open them and see the psychologist listed on them. Depending on what the practice is called/how it's listed, it might be obvious what type of provider it is, and if it's not and he wanted to know, there should be enough information that it'd be easy to google and find out.

Now, technically, any doctors you go to can't disclose anything to your parents without your permission due to HIPAA, so it's not like he can call the therapist and ask what you're seeing them for, but if he opens your mail there's a good chance that he'll find out.

In your situation I'd suggest finding a therapist/counselor who takes payments on a sliding scale and find a way to pay for it yourself without using your insurance. It might not be feasible for you but it's the only way I can think of to be fairly sure your father won't find out.

NAYRT but I feel like it was a pretty reasonable thing to say

like

it's not about what you do in the relationship, it's about imagining having the feelings you have about a person towards a person of the other gender

Now I just pictured OP putting a skeleton under the sink. And then the repairman arrives, OP's like "so THAT'S where I left the body!", scaring the repairman and the landlord forever.

Yeah but I don't really get it.

I can't imagine myself enjoying gin. It tastes horrible. That doesn't mean I can't imagine some gin enthusiast enjoying gin as much as I enjoy bourbon. I don't need to put myself literally in their shoes to emphasize.

Though crudely delivered, I think that is chard's point. She's saying love is the same.

Used to visit /x/ from time to time. I remember being present for one of those "epic" threads, and I couldn't stop laughing.

Peeked into /a/ maybe once or twice. Went to /b/ once out of curiosity and it was too much for me.

Gee, I have no idea why anyone would use the term African American in a discussion about a character in a book called American Gods.

Writing fanfiction. I kind of lost my spark about two years ago and haven't been able to get it back since. .__.

Once a week - it's thick, curly, and fairly dry, and if I wash it any more than that, it turns into a mess. I use this stuff, it smells delicious.
