Lately, it seems that my skin/complexion has been dryer and worse than usual. Also, I have more zits and blackheads, despite the skin feeling dryer. Maybe since...before this summer?

The only thing that I can think of is I've lost weigh, but I don't see how it would be connected.

Have you changed your diet in any major way?

Well, yes, that would be sort of implied by losing weight. But I'd say...for the better?

I still eat all major food groups. I eat more fruit, vegetables and yoghurt. I drink more water. I cut down on sugar and fast food. That's about it?

You've triggered a hormonal change in your body with your diet, you'll just have to ride it out until your metabolism stabilises too. You may possibly be eating too little too. What is your approx daily calorie intake?

I don't count calories, actually, but I'd say - between 1200-1600 calories? it differs a bit from day to day, and I do have cheat days.

I definitely do not eat so little as to feel weak or unhealthy.

Now that you mention hormonal change, though, my period's also been lighter for the past 3 or 4 months.

Try eating less starchy food and go for more whole grains.

You didn't switch soap/shampoo/makeup brands or anything like that? Sometimes brand formulations change without much notice even if you didn't switch. Bad reactIons to new laundry detergent can make you break out if you're allergic to residue on your pillows. Also if your periods keep getting lighter, that might be a sign that you aren't getting all the nutrients you need or need to eat more/different things. Depending on how tall you are and your activity level, 1200 calories a day might not be enough and could be stressing out your body.

I'm not that active really, because I'm limited by my bad foot. I'm a little over average height for a woman, I guess, but I'm losing weight pretty slowly so I don't think it's starvation or anything. Maybe variety is an issue, but I dunno...I eat meat/fish/veggies/fruit/nuts/dairy products. I can switch around the percentages a bit, but I'd be doing it randomly.

I switch shampoo brands regularly because I build up a resistance after a while. Same make-up and detergent, though.

Drier skin can lead to more zits because your skin is producing more oils to compensate for the dryness.

Have you started any medications during this time frame? Are you washing you face more often or bathing or swimming more? (Those things dry out your skin.) Are you using moisturizer?

I take blood pressure meds, but I've started taking those maybe half a year before the skin issue started. I'm not washing/bathing more. I use moisturizer daily, but that's been part of my routine since college, so I don't think that's the cause.

EDIT: and the more you know, I thought zits were caused by oily skin.

Could be age... could be weather/seasons...

I noticed my skin feeling drier/less elastic during the winter months about a few years ago.

You're getting more zits probably because your skin is compensating for the dryness by producing more oil.

It's not just winter months, because it's been that way all through summer, too. Could be age, yes, it just seems like it happened...quite suddenly? I'd expect age-related changes to be more gradual, but I could be wrong.

Whenever I lose weight, my skin looks awful. When I'm chubby, I have nice skin. It's a hormone thing.

Also, it's a time of the year when the climate is changing a lot, and that can negatively impact your skin more than it normally does if you're already putting stress on it.
