That catchphrase was so hamhanded that I can't tell if it's great or cringeworthy.

Did she say it more than once? I only caught it the one time, and don't see why it seems so out of place. I say it to myself tbh (I'm a woman, so), so I can see how a character such as her would find it appropriate to say it to someone else. It's not like every woman in the movie was saying it; it was just her thing.

Shame the only other major Asian character in the film aside from the protagonist and his brother was her.

When the characters in the source material were ALL Asian characters, it kind of is. (Not to mention of those characters is fridged in the first act).

And heck they even had to give the Asian protagonist a hot white aunt. Ugh.

Yeah, I can't watch this now. I need racial purity in my movies. Asians stay with Asians, and Blacks with Blacks.

I'm sorry, but this leg of the oppression Olympics needs to be rained off. too much ignorance.

If Asians weren't so underrepresented in American film, maybe reducing the number of Asian characters in a big budget Disney film wouldn't be such a problem.

But they are so it is. Trying to make this is a case of wanting to preserve racial purity as opposed to not feeling the need to write out a minority that's already vasty ignored is gross.

Is this real? I'm Asian myself and am always on the lookout for positive Asian presence in mainstream media and even *I* am boggling at this irrational outrage. You sound exactly like this: "Wah wah, you guys get out of my sandbox it's mine mine *mine*." Wow, that's just so pro-inclusivity of you.

The mixed cast works much better for the retooled setting and I for one think the idea of a multicultural futuristic city is cool as hell.

The guy who reuses his underwear and acts like a stoner but actually lives in a mansion and has a superhero dad who also reuses his underhero had an actual arc.

Hiro, Baymax, and Fred had personalities. Sort of.

That's my big problem with the movie. Everyone liked Hiro, was annoyed by Fred, and other than that I can't tell you what any of them thought about anybody else.

Same. I liked BH6 a lot, but when I compare it to The Incredibles, it just doesn't hold up in terms of characters development and growth.

She's supposed to be Asian, right? I guess it's better than the quiet, no-speaking Asian women characters that are usually shown in Western movies. (Like Pitch Perfect and the Brothers Bloom. Ugh.)

UM. Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi, The Brothers Bloom) spoke twice ("Fuck me" and singing karaoke), and she was in NO way "quiet and subservient". She was motherfuckin' nuts and absolutely important to the plot.

Also, Lilly in Pitch Perfect turned out to be an amazing beatboxer.

Give her time. Movie 1 was Hiro and Baymax's story. Movie 2 will probably shift focus and develop other characters.

"Woman up" got way overdone by the fandom. She only says it like, twice in the movie. Other than that, nothing about her seemed especially focused on what a badass FEMALE character she was. She filled the role of the team daredevil, which could easily have gone to a guy.

I'm really glad I'm not the only one. The other non-Hiro characters at least felt like actual people I've met (excitable science nerd girls really are adorable) but Gogo feels only like a walking stereotype. And yeah, I also cringed at her catchphrase. It felt too forced when tacked onto an underdeveloped character.

Go Go actually reminded me of a friend of mine, both in looks and personality. I better go tell my friend to stop being such a stereotype.
