I don't think that's something to be mad about. I think it'd be cool if they made a Miles Morales movie, but I don't think that making a Peter Parker movie is an indictment of the movie industry, or a moral failing, or anything like that. I think it's a little silly, for many obvious reasons, but I don't get why this is something to get outraged about. I can see why the general state of action and superhero movies is something to get mad about - but that's distinct from this casting decision.

Yeah, this. I have no problem with a Miles Movie, or a Miguel movie if then want to go the latin route instead, but lets not racebend peter when we've got a perfectly good spiderman already that satisfies this desire.

Is there a contract out there that states specifically that Peter Parker CAN NOT be played by a New Yorker? One of the most iconic New Yorkers out there and he has been played by a Californian, a Californian-English guy and now another English kid.

I just want a New Yorker. There has been something missing about the modern portrayals of Peter and I think that's it. You can't fake being a New Yorker.

I think it'd be really funny if they redid the origin story and suddenly it's like a parody of Uncle Ben's death. It's so obligatory at this point. "Aaaaaah responsibility oh god I'm so old, aaaaah responsibility, that guy has a gun! Better aaaaaah argue with him, responsibility Peter. Now I'm dead. Responsibility"

I'm more annoyed that they're making YET ANOTHER Spiderman movie.

Jesus, first we had Tobey Maguire, then we had that guy whose name we can't remember, all within a short span of time. Now we have to go through the origin story alllll over again.

I can't say I understand the outrage over this. Disappointment, sure. Frustration, maybe.

But Peter Parker is the most recognizable version of Spiderman to the general public. Studios aren't making this movies just for comicbook fans. They are going to go with what is likely to hit the nostalgia button for the most people.

I feel the same way about female!Thor. Just because she's in the comics now means absolutely nothing for the movies.

Well I'm not surprised, I do quite like Peter but at the same time I wished they'd gone for Miles or even Gwen to shake things up a bit. But Peter Parker is the more well-known Spiderman thanks to the other films so it's no real surprise they're going for him(I just hope it's not another origin movie, we don't need yet another one of those for him).
