:-/ It's unfortunate that so many flies have spoiled the soup - it's gotten to where sometimes I hate to admit I like slash for fear of people thinking I'm a crazy hater.

For the record, I think it's perfectly fair for someone not to want to see m/m (or m/f, or f/f, or m/m/f etc etc), just as long as they don't spend time whining that OH MY GOD IT EXISTS ON THE INTERNET. (This would also be why I get annoyed when people don't appropriately label their fics :P )

If insecure and stupid people are making you feel bad about your weight, try mixing up your LJ/fandom reading with some fat, feminist politics: Shapely Prose (http://kateharding.net/) and The F-Word (http://the-f-word.org/blog/) are great starting points. There's people of all sizes there and they introduce radical (but sensible!) concepts like "Health At Every Size" - focusing on being healthy rather than yo-yo dieting and weight loss.

i don't hate nil! that was the point of the secret. i just think there are waaay too many icons of her relative to the icons of the battle-y scenes.

3- Sorry, writers don't structure shows after what a tiny sect of people on the internet want. They're not thinking about "making other ships wrong" because they're generally not going "well the online fandom thinks this so we shouldn't do this." And they shouldn't cater to fandom. The general public likes seeing people hook up, and they're really the ones that matter most. They make up the largest chunk of watchers/readers/etc.

27- I think canon Sues are quite uncommon, but not totally non-existant (Bella from Twilight comes to mind, but to be fair Edward is as much a Stu as she is a Sue). I also can't think of any in anime/manga fandom, although some shoujo heroines come close in the same manner that many male shounen leads teeter on the edge of Gary-Stu. I wouldn't necessarily say they're automatically being sexist. In the fandom your picture is from, most of the people that label Kagome Sue are InuYasha/Kikyou fans for example, and last I checked she's very much female. However, the fact that the male characters that are pretty darn close to Gary Stus are hardly ever called on does, imho, speak of some sexist attitudes among fandom (he's hot and I'm attacted to him, so it's okay). I can't really think of any other reasoning behind that frequent attitude.

As for Kagome? I wouldn't really call her that lucky in love for one. IY is the one who has gotten endless second chances, so I'd say he's luckier. I'm sure the payoff will be good in the end, but her romantic issues have been not even close to sunshine and roses. And her flaws, unlike a couple members of the rest of the cast, are very much acknowledged.

I've gotten bored and run a lot of characters through the litmus test, and unless it's a series specifically aimed at females, the males usually come out higher.

2: I still think Saiyuki is made of true awesome, deeper than most manga that resembles it, and the Goku plot development in vol. 8 was made of win. There really was a sort of a turning point at the end there, but I'm also extremely frustrated by the wait...

8: I've never understood how friendship could be somehow diminished by romatic love. I mean, friendship love + romantic love should logically mean more love, not less, shouldn't it?

22: NOIN! She was very cool indeed. And the only character in that anime that wasn't completely insane, I think. And I say that with the deepest affection.

27: I agree that the term is thrown about a lot, but I challenge you to make that statement after reading Elizabeth Hayden's Rhapsody. It's truly awesome. And by that I mean terrible.

41: No, they haven't. None of the sane (every part of every fandom has its crazies) yaoi fans online that I've seen have ever stated anything of the sort. If it's not your thing, then it's not your thing. Now, if you've argued that it's bad, OOC and disgusting for the sole reson that it's yaoi, then your venturing onto thin ice, my friend.

46: B.A. was totally the coolest member of the A-Team. My brother and I worshiped him.

52: Truly, this manga has been a joy to read, and I've loved all the characters. It doesn't seem to be the parody I thought it was though, which confuses me greatly. I thought the mangaka was making a sarcastic observation with Tamaki's statement that he and Haruhi were the romantic leads in a love story, but it seems the joke is on us after all. Oh well, I suppose that's what AU:s are for!

Well, it depends on your perspective. Personally I think the fact that it's a dynamics of 3, having exclusive relations between any two would definitely to some extent compromise/isolate the remaining guy.

Many people see romance differently because of the experiences they have in life. For most of it, I've had stronger platonic friendships more than I do relationships that is based on sexual attraction, so maybe that's why I'm inclined to see things more that way. :)

haha, no harm no foul. Everybody's entitled to their pairing preference! TBH I was all for Tamaki/Haruhi at the beginning myself, and then we got to see some Kyouya character development. I guess I just identify with his manner of showing affection, so maybe I'm mapping out some of my feelings onto him and interpreting his doting on tamaki as omglove4eva. (But Kyouya and Haruhi as love rivals, perfect or what?)
