18. Sanji's just all around sexy, what are you talking about? ¬.¬ He made me realize I've got a kink for any character who has lighter hair color, smoke and have a dirty mouth (bonus points if he's all three). Doesn't matter what manga I'm reading now, as soon as I find one filling even one of the three criteria, I like the character. I feel like such a bad fan ;_;

29. OH HELL YES COUNT ME IN TOO ♥

34. GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE FUCK YEAH. Probably my favorite Disney movie ever (tied with Robin Hood, though. I like the obscure ones :D).

35. I used to watch the TV show religiously as a kid. Wouldn't mind traveling with him either :D

49. *nodnod*

61. LAWL Now I wish I had thought to do something similar as a kid. I would have too, if it had occured to me. Reboot is ♥

69. Yes I'm five and laughed that this was #69. Ever since being in fandom I've been invoking Rule 34 in anything I read or watch. I just keep my thoughts to myself XD

6) That would fix the problem for some people who'd like to leave critiques, but for me (and there must be others like me) I generally won't leave critique because it likely won't be appreciated, so why bother? I think the best way to solve it would be for site like deviantART and FanFiction.net to have different levels of "how much critique is wanted for this fic/artwork/etc", and then make "no critique" the default. That way if you see "I want critique" you'll know that the person really wants it since s/he had to go to the trouble of switching away from the default.

14) For me, I'm more creeped out the more realistic the dolls are, since the realism pushes the buttons in my reptilian brain which say "it's going to move around when you're not looking at it", or worse, "it's going to move around when you're looking at it and you're alone".

Re: 6

(Anonymous) 2008-02-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
6. But that doesn't really work. They already have a similar system on y!gallery where you specify the level of critique you would like to receive. No matter how much I specify that critique is indeed encouraged, it's rare that I get any.

Many people are simply too afraid at this point because they've been burned before or they just don't want to seem mean. This whole touchy feely being nice about people's delicate feelings society really gets on my nerves. Give me a verbal beating! Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger if I learn something from it, even if that something is that some people are just picky assholes with nothing valid to offer.

23. I miss Sam and Annie, but Ashes to Ashes is surprisingly awesome. I wasn't really expecting it to be so good. It's got a different tone than Life on Mars and it works. The music is brilliant (I didn't know there was actually that much good music in the 80s, but I keep catching myself going "OMG, I love that song!") and the clothes are incredible. Quite often incredibly bad, but still, lawl. I could write loads more, but basically, I'm enjoying it hugely and I think anyone who doesn't watch it just because they're pissed that someone made a sequel to LoM is cutting off their nose to spite their face. It's worth checking out at least.

40. It never really occurred to me to think of her as a Mary-Sue, actually. She's quite not. She can come off as an arsehole and does often enough and the other characters don't treat her as the second coming. Plus, I think there's the fact that eventually she's going to have to go home/die, because I don't think she'd be willing to sacrifice her relationship with her daughter, so that puts a limit on what can happen with Gene, I think. Umm, yeah. -shrugs- Like I said, it's worth checking out at least.

14 -- Aww, most of us male dollfie owners aren't that crazy. My boy is a clothing and photography model, mostly. The only thing he compensates for is my inability to look that pretty in men's period clothing XD.

Although, I will say that the crazy few ruin it for the sane majority, as usual.

[identity profile] miruku-tea.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
36. It makes me lose faith in humanity that people give up faith in humanity over things like this. And I like his English dub voice. =]

[identity profile] carolinga.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
*Shrugs* Plenty of people loathe football, so I don't know why you'd feel the need to keep it a secret.

I hated football like crazy and looked down on people who liked it--until I went to college, started dating a football player and realized what a stuck-up douche I was being. I got dragged to game after game until I started seeing its worth and how much fun it can be.

Athletes are definitely overpaid, though. As are actors, directors...

Still, it's problematic for me anytime someone uses the "I don't like this so anyone who does is stoopid" argument.

6. I lol'd at the upside down penis thing.

10. The gay is almost always more fun when it isn't canon. Heck, the het is, too.

39. Actually, I kinda like this idea of the Super Bowl being not responsible for the decline of Western society, but representative of it. Bread and circuses, and all that. It's kinda poetic.

52. BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOST RECENT EPISODE? I was thinkin' the same thing, but it's like, dude, she's like making the two of them realize just how big the buttsecks potential is. Sure, CTB is still one of those characters I love to hate, but she's such an awesome subtexty plot device right now.

60. Repeat.

It would be funny if all the 12 year old yaoi fans wouldn't keep drawing that shit (before they get banned from Y!gallery)! Come on! Even some of the older fans get it wrong, oh so wrong. Why don't you just put his dick on his nose and call it a day?

6- I both agree and disagree. People are FAR to "OMG that's great" but you give people anon and they seem to think it also means manners and common sense need not apply.

14- Ok, I get what you're staying about the creep factor but there's such a gaping difference between buying a doll and BUYING a real person...

37- I think I feel the same way. (The show was on so long ago. But yeah)

41: I ship Ian/Barbara like burning, and I love Sarah Jane Smith and Ace, but most of the other companions (Mel and Tegan, I'm looking at you) irritate me.
But Brig/Liz forever. Srsly.
However, I got started with New Who. I would never have discovered the glory that is Ian/Barbara if I hadn't fallen in love with Christopher Eccleston first. The new fans have to start somewhere; give them a chance. And what if you just plain don't like the older series? It can happen. The First Doctor in particular sometimes got a little lecture-y and the special effects are laughable.
I guess don't judge based purely on what someone's watched so far.
(but the raging New!Who shippers can go away, yeah)

29. Signed.

31. That's why I didn't read it, either. Except, I just never liked Winry. I didn't ship Ed with anyone else or anything. :/

52. I know what you mean. Well, I often hate female characters, but getting in the way of slash was never the reason until she came along. They basically made House/Wilson canon with all that blabbering they did last episode and she's just...ANNOYING. Of course, I never liked her to begin with (forgive me, CB fans, but I don't feel that House's traits transfer well to women - or really just anyone but House) but now I absolutely cannot stand her.

22, and in general

(Anonymous) 2008-02-15 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I don't seem to have any trouble avoiding insane Rose fangirls (admittedly, I don't read general fan communities besides fandom_wank and fandom_secrets, because general comms are full of crazy people). I have lots of trouble avoiding people ranting about OMG HOW MUCH THEY HATE ROSE, though, and it's been more than a year.

I don't care if people hate her - I hate plenty of Companions! It's a Who Hobby of long standing! - but wouldn't it be in your interest to let the issue die already?

p.s. I sympathize with being sick of her but death threats for the lose.

Re: 22, and in general

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
TRUTH!

That's the thing, and that's what's got me so darn defensive to the point that I'm kind of starting to hate certain other characters, and certainly that I'm scared of the fandom.

The amount of HATE ROSE OH MAN!!!! that I've encountered is completely disproportionate to the ammount of crazy Rose fans that I've encountered.

This leaves me to assume that, since I haven't really encountered any Rosefen or Doctor/Rose shippers who are any more over the top than average fangirls/boys with any other character or ship... well, it must be the simple act of liking her and shipping it that infuriates the haters.

...

Man, I think I should start making some hate-secrets about classic companions, just for the lolz. Turnabout, and all. (But do I even hate any Classic companions?...why so much hate, fandom?)

[identity profile] jay-m-l.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
24. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who finds Seven attractive.

28. LOL. Roy/Black Hayate = my new OTP.

41. I agree, to an extent. I'm not militant about it, but I figure if you love something, go and see everything. But I hate it when people say that I'm not a real fan because the Doctor I started watching with was the Ninth. It's not my fault I'm a seventeen-year-old living in America, and I shouldn't be put down for that.

48. They inspired me to start writing, and opened up the world of science fiction for me. I can honestly say that I'd be a different person if I hadn't read Animorphs.

Holy Jesus yes I agree with you.

It is total ass to objectify a sexuality like that, and limit people to just these confining, idealized definitions.

I'm the guy nobody thinks is queer and are surprised when I tell them I am

Also seen fangirls go in disbelief when I explain the concept of a 'Bear'

[38] That was the best night of television ever. I wonder if they'll release a DVD of those episodes or something.

[41] While I do agree with the fact that it's better to go and see the old seasons to help understand who the Doctor is now and how everything was, it isn't fair to call those who haven't seen 'em yet non-fans. Some can't use torrents or just don't have the money for the DVDs.

That's why it's up to us, those with the classics available, to upload and share with the rest! :3
