Happy Valentines Day to everyone! ♥♥♥

Also, just a note: Dude, bitmaps are HUGE. Please don't submit secrets in bitmap format. I redid one today to a jpeg, because I was feeling nice, but we will make a special section down in the not posted secrets in the future for bitmaps. We're trying to make the page as easy to load for everyone as we can. Thanks!

39. I love football. I don't understand what you're saying here. You're only allowed to like something and spend money on it if it's going to change the world? People who enjoying watching football are destroying the world? Most fandom is shipping wars and doesn't do squat "TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE". They put a lot of their money into what they enjoy. WHO CARES. You're complaining about people watching a sport and rooting for their favorite team? The hell?

(the NFL has a fandom? is it really considered as such?)

[identity profile] zarla.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
1 - Wolf!Link is just lame, if you ask me, and I don't much care for Midna either. But beside that point, they're both brand new characters for the brand new game, which is already being represented by all the Zelda character's costume designs and all. Windwaker!Link/Kid!Link represent the actual origins of the series, since Link started as a kid in the first Zelda, not a handsome smoldering guy. And whether or not they have the same moveset, they represent the two different paths that the Zelda series has now taken. It makes sense that WW!Link is in it from the perspective of representing the series itself, whether or not he's just a clone. Putting in wolf!Link and Midna would have been unnecessary, not to mention making Link specific to one game rather than representing his whole series of games. Updating his outfit is vague enough that he could still be Ocarina Link or just general adult Link, but you put in wolf!Link/Midna and you severely limit which Link he is. That kind of seems against what Smash is going for.
BUT REALLY THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT IN PINKBUNNY!LINK, NOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL.

Too lazy to log into not-RP account

FUCK YEAH PINKBUNNY!LINK D:

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
2. My first boyfriend started flirting with me by doing the Marvin voice. Heh. He's such a cutie pie. I'm glad we're still friends, because darn it, there are sometimes when you just need to cuddle something and hear it say "Pardon me for breathing, which I never do anyway so I don't know why I bother at all, oh I'm sooo depressed."

6. I'm inclined to agree. Elfwood allows for anon. comments, but the result is often stupid spammy comments. Still, I'd like to be able to review things honestly. Instead, I see potential that needs a critique and just sigh and pass it up because it's not worth the wank.

14. DOLFIES ARE FRIGGEN CREEPY!

16. BEST. SECRET. EVER.

21. Um. Looks like I missed out on the wank again. Someone clue me in as to why the Doctor/Rose shippers are threatening to abandon ATaaOM? I rather hope they don't; sometimes, darn it, I need my Doctor/Rose fluff. And there's not enough Six fluff to cover it, and Two I don't fluff with anyone (well, maaaybe Jamie, but only sorta), and the rest I sadly don't know enough about to fluff.
Some of it's lametastic, but there are a few writers who do some really fantastic one-shots. Like that one...whose name I can never remember.

22. Would responding to the secret defeat the purpose?
I don't know, I just never got on the Rose-hate bandwagon. Never really understood it. Lotta doublestandard or something.

23. HAH. Oh, I hope not. Wasn't That 80's Show terrible?
Man, I do love the 70's clothes in LoM

24. *snerk*
I only laugh because Six looks uncannily like a shorter version of one of my friends, and Seven looks exactly like an older version of a very close friend of mine. When I showed him McCoy's picture, he freaked out and couldn't look at it because it was "like looking into a creepy future-mirror!"
I stand by my feelings that Ten is the one who is Classically Sexiest. But Six is the one I'd travel with...

29. I can go that far, but man, I love and miss the old SoL...

34. OLIVIA! Oh man, from one of the best freakin' movies ever. I blame Olivia for my love of the name Toby. And, come to think about it, the reasons one of the characters in a story I'm working on is named Toby.

39. Oh. Oh man. I agree wholeheartedly. Ever since I read My Teacher Flunked the Planet, it's always been a serious "we need to change this" thing for me that our professional atheletes are paid...at least ten times as much as our teachers. Come on, people. Which is the more important job?
I mean, I like sports okay. But really, even with all my family being big into football, I never understood why anyone would watch it. Play a pick-up game in the backyard, sure. But watching football? It's like watching paint dry.

Now soccer (which we really should just call "football" like the rest of the world). That, at least, is fun to watch.

40. Oh dear. Well, really, now. Who doesn't want a chance to jump Gene? (Given that Sam is rather taken.)

41. Whaddaya know. A "Hey you kids, get off my lawn!" Who-secret that I kind of actually agree with.
Not 100% because I know it's very tricky trying to get some of the older episodes if you're a person of limited means. But if you've only seen Nine and Ten and have no intention of watching the old series... em... then you're the kind of New Fan I don't want to be confused with.

50. *snicker* I did that back in high school. I think one of my short story projects was all about Tasuki.

52. Man, do I agree.
Although I like that her being in a relationship basically prompted Wilson and House to say "We're a couple."
I hate the lametastic idea that she's basically House-with-a-vagina so that Wilson can have straight-sex with House. But if, for some reason, the whole relationship prompts more House/Wilson moments... I won't mind at all.

70. Because he's evil and systematically destroyed everything the Doctor cared about, basically raped the TARDIS, and killed over half the world? Or because he's over the top and campy.
I mean, either way, I wouldn't agree with you. But, y'know, I just want to know the reasoning.

A little late but to 57:

Oh no no no no NO NO NNNO ;A; I was pretty heavily in the Suikoden fandom like 7 years ago and I've been getting back into it lately and I've never heard anybody who even talks about the kobolds. I didn't even KNOW there was a suikoden furry fandom;;; oh god don't leave especially if you like I and II ;A; COME BE FRIENDS, DON'T BE AFRAID

I'm not sure about Wolf Link and Midna being an entirely separate character... but like how Sheik and Zelda are the same, it'd be cool to have TP Link be able to shift from human to wolf in Brawl.

6. If it weren't for the existence of /b, I'd back you up on this ;) Unfortunately, anonymity is a power too great for most mortal men and women XD

9. AGREED.

15. I know who Leo is! And I would be more than interested in reading a universe in which you've found a way to hook them up in a believable way, that must be some serious plot :O

16. I think this is totally awesome.

19. I believe in 'put up or shut up'. If you want your fandom to not suck, you have to put your money where your mouth is and contribute :)

20. I remember one time someone left me a review letting me know exactly what KIND of object they were banging themself with while reading my fic. I think I left that site XD;

28. WTH? Man, my fandom seems to have some trolls lately.

31. ...this secret could be mine save for the Elricest implication O.o

39. I'm an American and I won't kill you - though honestly, I'll note the same could be said of other sports, other media.

43. You are also me, except that I don't really have secrets anymore XD My fandom life is not that interesting, I guess :)

49. Here, here. (Or is it hear, hear? I'm not a literary type, I don't know.)

60. XKCD REPRESENT!

63. ;-; Imogen Heap inspires me, too.

67. Aw...I hope you're taking care. Feeling alone enough to be in that place is really awful.

69. ...do I know you? XD

Thank you. I try to not do it too often, since I know it's kinda dangerous. My friends are awesome, and I love them dearly... it's just. I don't want to be a burden, with my constant sadness over silly things and what not. They would be worried and pissed if they knew. >:

Best fake secret ever.

59

[identity profile] cftfic.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
See, I'm confused and curious, both because the authors are two close friends of mine and (despite not shipping the pairing) I think it's honestly the single best piece of fanfiction I have ever read.

What exactly do you 'hate' about it? That really strikes me as a strong word. Dislike? Sure, it's not to everybody's tastes. But hate?

(Also, for the record, both Musouka and Aria are pretty damn good at taking criticism, so if there's something you see, it's probably best to leave some. You won't be flamed. Honestly.)

59

[identity profile] musouka-manga.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, first secret. I don't think you have to be afraid of saying that you hate the fic in public, though I'm really sorry that you do hate it now. It's far from being perfect, I know.

If you don't mind my asking, and you're here to respond, would you mind telling me why you dislike it so much now? Neither Raelle or myself cringe from criticism, and if you feel that it's going in a bad direction, please let us know. It might not change the outcome of what we have planned, but you can only really grow if you allow yourself to be challenged.

Praise is nice, but it's not what a well-rounded author should live on alone.

Re: 59

(Anonymous) 2008-02-15 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
The fic itself is generally well-loved, and quite frankly, the strong language is largely a result of a friend of mine being a bit wasted and having some stupid fun.

1. It strikes me as being largely un-betaed. There are grammatical errors all over it that most betas that I know would catch. I'd hit huge portions of it with a big, red pen.

2. There is little character motivation. We never have any clue about what Phoenix is thinking about anything, despite the fic's being written from his third-person perspective. It wasn't so bad for the first three chapters, but it's just not working at this point. To be quite frank, I have absolutely no idea why he's with Edgeworth. There was absolutely no thought process for his going from being essentially straight and trying to be Edgeworth's friend, to his freaking the fuck out at being kissed by that friend (male), to his pretty well wholeheartedly accepting the whole situation. With no explanation, which just makes no sense. I see Phoenix as a bit of an empty shell in this fic.

I have no problem with the way the relationship develops. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm not that trite and not prone to disliking something just because it doesn't go the exact same way that I've imagined it. I just don't think it's being well executed. At all.

3. Six very long chapters and absolutely nothing has happened. There has been no conflict, no plot development, nothing. At all.

4. Get a beta. Seriously.

I just think it's a bit annoying, really, because it has a lot of potential. I also see a lot of other works by other authors that are a lot better being continually overlooked while everyone is practically creaming their pants over this fic.

Hey 59 & 66~ prepare for TL; DR reply doooom... XD

(Anonymous) 2008-02-15 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm above 30, I'm Singaporean and a University Graduate, and I work in the entertainment industry before I went on to publishing where I've been for the past 5-6 years, and I am still very much a fan of anime before it even became a big deal in Singapore (VHS trading days FTW baby!). So high five there!

Frankly, stereotyping is just one of the kinks of fandom (and likely very bored and lonely kids who need attention) you have to live and deal with, but it's pretty much a numbers/statistic game rather than anything else. The more fans a fandom has, the chances of a retarded obnoxious one surfacing becomes higher, y/n? But I'm glad to say none of my peers have given me flak for my interest in this genre (even though my closer friends are all not anime fans), but they've known me since I was 14, so they know what I like and I know what they like... besides, if all else fails I could always use their rabid fangirling antics of other fandoms in high/secondary school that I wasn't nearly as interested in as leverage, muahahaha... *ahem* just kidding. ;)

I suppose I can have discussions on other more perceived 'sophisticated subject matters' in other forums, but I come to anime forums to talk about anime. I'm usually slightly brain-dead after a day's work, so I'd like me something that doesn't require too much stimulation of the grey matter. (I'm old, I’ve gone through the 50 page reading assignments, I’ve paid my dues, I swear! )

And 66, there are more intelligent Singaporean anime fans out there than you think there is, they just don't care to lurk in forums as much because… um, well… they are intelligent enough to stay away from them? lol (sorry, it was a throwaway question I couldn't resist) But seriously, don't be too quick to stereotype the fans in SG based on the small crowd you are/have been acquainted with, you just need to look a wee bit harder and be smarter about where to find these lovely and quirky people. 

I must say, though, if you are basing your knowledge of bisexual gays and the like on the stereo of American/Japanese pop culture that we're flooded with you might be disappointed with the real deal. Just as there are those brilliant, smart and quirky ones I’ve met in the course of my occupation, the obnoxious ones do exist as well. Just saying they are as much human as straight people are.

But hey, humans is as human does no? :)

66: y halo thar

(I think you'll find me terribly boring too, but I have a BIG problem finding anime fans that I like - I can't stand most of them both offline and online...)

(;_; sometimes they really need to STFU. Really.)

seeing motherfucking everworld just made me exclaim 'Oh my god' out in front of my whole office.

Overwhelming potential being snuffed out early without having any of the plot lines previously mentioned (tapestry of fate) made my head exploded. Applegate just stopped trying.
