(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)THE FUCKING TERRORISTS WANT YOU SCARED, THEY WANT YOU TURN ON THE MODERATES AND THE EVERYDAY PEOPLE AND DRIVE THEM OUT OF THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS AMONG YOU THAT THEY FOUGHT FOR, ALL SO THEY CAN GET MORE SOLDIERS.
They want you scared.
They want you to think you're the target.
You're really, really not. Your fear is the carrot on the stick.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)I know this issue is more complex than just religion - it's politically and culturally motivated and all. but seriously, they can all go fuck themselves. You have to be pretty fucked in the head to think murdering innocent random people doesn't make you the bad guy.

"Dear diary, today someone decided to blow up my previous workplace"
I woke up to a message on Facebook about possible explosions at the airport, then obviously it escalated as we know.
At the time I heard, m boyfriend was on his way to Brussels - but fortunately I still reached him before some of the phone network went down, and knew he was safe. My best friend - who I swear had a knack for missing terrorist attack by a hair, bless her -was supposed to fly there today because she was planning to come home for Easter, but fortunately her plane was not until later and she's safe with family abroad.
Those closest to me are safe, but at this point I'm unsure if any of my ex-colleagues are among the dead.
I actually had to pass Brussels today - and at about 19:30 (still full rush hour, normal) the city ring looked like a damn ghost town, the airport exit closed off entirely.
It's surreal, really. These are all places I know so well.
I think I'm still a bit numbed, not even shocked or surprised - just, disheartened.
As it progresses, I'm mostly worried for the fallout, how politicians will use this to promote their agenda.
At the moment the country is in phase 4 alert (which is fancy speak for lockdown). The evacuated several stations, a hospital, even a nuclear plant.Air traffic is supposed to remain down for at least another day, public transport will be heavily disrupted.
I guess we'll know more by morning.

When there was an explosion at the Boston Marathon a few years ago, I had the exact same surreal feeling. Seeing places I know SO well like that is really scary and jarring.
So many thoughts and prayers to the city and country.

Re: Terrorist Attacks
My feelings is that Syria and Iraq won't leave other parts of the world alone. At least there should be some anti ISIS measures due to this and the bombings in Syria itself. On the other hand more violence leads to more weapons being made, and someone will make a profit selling it left and right. War is profitable... Come to think of it where did the terrorists get the explosives? Where do they get all the weapons?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-23 12:40 am (UTC)(link)Which makes me wonder if they weren't planning this attack for Easter. I'm not sure if the security measures would be raised the way they do in the US for major holidays but there's probable some uptick in travel for people going to visit relatives. Religious tensions are already high; I can't imagine how people would react if this happened on Easter and it was overtly an attack on Christianity.
