But why the Doctor if you want him for his sexiness? Why not a show where he can actually show some skin?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Sex appeal doesn't necessarily have anything to do with showing some skin. Some of the times I've been most attracted to actors was when they were fully clothed but something in the way they acted and moved was very hot.

A lot of people are attracted to the Doctor so I could see why they'd want an actor they are already in love with in the role.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-03 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not everyone requires nudity in order to appreciate a person's sex appeal.

That is a damn good reason OP, don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't being the Doctor kind of a waste of his talents? I'd rather see him as a movie star than slumming it in a terribly-written tv show.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
We've only one more terribly written season to go, thank god and the Director of Light Entertainment.

I think the issue would be more that Doctor Who couldn't afford his price tag. Christopher Eccleston may have done movies before Who, but he wasn't as high profile then as Elba is now.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
The actors who have made the best Doctors are the ones who get the Not Human but Appreciates Humanity aspect of his character. I like Idris Elba, but he's very much one of us, if you take my meaning.

Patterson Joseph, on the otherhand could play the Doctor easily.

Yep, you're a villain either way.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ehh I'm hoping for a female doctor. I'm always more attracted to the moral support characters and if those can be men I would like that a lot more.

Maybe you need better friends if you can't express an opinion without being called a ~SJW~

If wanting Idris Elba to play all the fun, fannish roles ever is "being an SJW," then I'm embracing the fuck out of that label. (Elba for the Doctor! Elba for Bond! Elba for Batman! Elba for Holmes! Elba for President!)

I'd watch it, it'd shake things up and be a little interesting.

Yum yes please

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a good idea and also he should do more series of Luther as well.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-02 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No, being sex on legs is definitely a good reason.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-03 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Either way sounds like a fine reason to me.

Why bother defending yourself?

[personal profile] chardmonster 2016-04-03 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
People using the term SJW now, ages after it was even really a thing, tend to be fucking Brietbart-reading morons.

If they aren't, they're the Bernie morons who don't appear to agree with Bernie about anything substantive.

Basically why are you trying to appeal to morons? At this point being accused of being an SJW is almost a compliment.

Waste of a talented actor on a kid's show. I wish Capaldi would get back to doing real work.

There is no better excuse than a sexy Doctor. Do you, OP. They all want a sexy Doctor anyway.

lol imagine the tags on ao3 or elsewhere, sexy!Doctor

(Anonymous) 2016-04-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Totally valid reason, OP. I want him to be Bond for the same reason.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-03 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer Doctors to be old and basically sexless. Skin colour isn't an issue though.

I'd take a POC Doctor quicker than a female Doctor, but as I said up-thread, I think Elba is a bit too high profile for Who to afford.

Maybe if a relative no-name black guy took the role it would make him famous.

Fair. He's one of my Go To cast in everything ever. Though I'm kind of glad he wasn't lex luther in BvS at this point... (also I agree with above that he's too high profile atm to become the Doctor, even in a perfect world)
