Can be any kind of hobby, interest, whatever.

No matter what I do I just can't get into gardening. It's like, that's the one thing that eludes me. Even a little window-box of herbs.
They all end up dying no matter how good I try to take care of them so...I just...I can't. I just can't.

A common mistake a lot of new gardeners make is actually drowning their plants (they usually assume their plants are dying from lack of water, so they over-water). If you look at a plant's soil and it looks dry, I'd suggest sticking a popsicle stick or similar wooden item into the soil first to see if wet soil from below the surface sticks to it; if it doesn't, you can water the plant.

Then again, it also depends on the type of plant. Some are ok in shade, others need higher amounts of sunlight. If you put a sun-loving plant in a part of the house that only gets sun in the early morning, that might not be enough sun for it.

Taking care of plants is fun once you get the hang of it. It might take a few tries, but that's ok!

Sorry, anon. :( Gardening IS tricky, and people tend to underestimate how difficult it is. Companies market all sorts of products to newbie gardeners to make them think you can grow stuff when the truth is that a lot of those herbs 1) don't do that well indoors even if it's by a window because that's just not enough light for them and 2) need waaaaay more space than the window box or they'll be sickly, spindly plants.

Don't waste your money on cute little grow kits with tiny pots. If you have some space outside and enough sun, that might work.

Comics. I want to so badly, particularly Marvel/DC stuff. But it is just so hard to understand where to start because of all the reboots and timelines and such.

I did read The Walking Dead comic up to #100~! And I am thinking of reading Sandman.

I used to be like that, but then discovered the helpful side of the internet. Pick any Marvel/DC comic or character you'd be interested in, and google "X reading guide in chronological order" or just "X reading guide". There's always someone who's made helpful list.

Fencing. I've always wanted to learn fencing. However, I'm a klutz with really bad hand-eye coordination so I'd probably stab myself.

Also martial arts, but I'm an asthmatic who is not at all good with physical things.

Both of these, but replace asthma with general lack of fitness and terrible reflexes.

I would love to be able to sew but I currently just don't have the patience or the money to invest in a good sewing machine.

Drawing. I think I'm naturally shit at it, I'm not good at self-teaching myself, and probably do not have the patience to put in the hours.

Piano. My mom's a pianist and it's sort of disgraceful I can't play, but yeah, maybe it's not good having your mom as a teacher.

I would just love to have a skill in general. I can sort of do a bunch of things okay, but there isn't anything I can do that especially stands out. Except writing, I guess. I'd love to be able to sew and garden and cook and build things and do math, but I'm really stupid, impatient, lazy, and don't have money for classes and materials.

RPing. Other people seem to have loads of fun with it and it seems to spark some pretty good fics as well. I never seem able to get into it though. Maybe the lack of control over all the characters and events is just not enough, after the Godlike powers of being a writer.

Gymnastics. I feel like I could have gotten into it if I started young but I didn't, and now I'm too scared to even try a cartwheel in case I break my wrist or something.

I would like to learn to play an instrument, something like the piano. But it's really hard.

Falconry. It's illegal in my country. I see hawks or eagles most days where I live, but I'm going to move away soon. :(

Knitting, a lot of my friends like it and say it helps them with anxiety, and I would love to create stuff, but I just can't grasp it.

Math, I guess. I hated that "girls can't do math" stereotype when I was a kid and desperately wanted to be a girl who could do math well, but it was so difficult for me and I couldn't get into it. I tried reading about the history of math and all the cool things people can do with math. I've taken different kinds of classes with different approaches to the subject. I just can't get into it.

Pretty much all physical activity. Because my body sucks.

It's frustrating knowing what my body used to do and having to be so inactive now. I have really vivid dreams of riding my horses or driving cars or running or swimming and I wake up to this weird bony carcass that I don't even recognise.

Scuba diving. I'm trying to overcome my fear of putting my face in the water, but it's been ingrained over the last 25 years and is proving very, very difficult. I've had several panic attacks at the pool and even in my own home trying to put my face in the water in the sink to get used to it.

It's SO frustrating, because when I was a kid I could swim underwater like nobody's business. Then I got contacts, stopped putting my face in the water, and that developed into this deep-seated fear.

Gargoyles. The TV show. I'd like to like it more than I do, but there's just too damn much to remember. Who's this guy who showed up once in 964 AD and said a few things? This person teamed up with this guy to backstab this other guy who double-crossed them and did this in revenge for...

Practically any TV show that's popular. Mainly because I'm addicted to my computer.

Wearing make-up. I've seen some make-up styles that look really pretty or cool and I'd love to try out, but it'll be WAY more expensive that I'm comfortable with since I can't wear the cheap stuff without getting itchy.
