9. Well, the F/sn one also gained some hilarity from the...noises Ilya made. (In my house, we still like to call her Ilya the Backflipping Dog.)

I AM TOTALLY WITH YOU. Well, not on them all actually being related, but I love poor Vera, she deserves some happy times. That's why I ship Very/Trucy. Wel, part of it.

Oh, FUCK me. The fact that Anthony Bourdain is on Fandom Secrets is worth far to me more than a cookie.

You win.

oh god ditto. I really really enjoyed the book. But the movie just captured the whole feeling of endless love better than the book did, because they were never separated.

Also the part in the book where the old witch is just like 'oh lol i'm too old to fight you guys, have a nice life :)' was probably the most anti-climatic thing Neil Gaiman has ever written.

13. What's this from?

17 & 58. Am I way too distrusting for ALWAYS thinking that people who write secrets like this are lying?

43. I did it before when I was 16-17. It's really amazing how differently people react to you when they know you're a girl-- or maybe it's the knowing that you lied about who you are.

53. I agree. Japan is really amazing in a lot of ways, but wtf?, way too sexist.

17. I don't necessarily agree on the should-have-won-Best-Animated-Picture front, but...that was one of the most moving scenes I've ever seen. I sobbed. :[

19. LOL. Me too, only in a WTF, NINTENDO!? way.

28. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA.
You just made my evening, congrats. I'm about to play the game and all I'm going to be able to think is "heh, squeaky penis."

29. I'd hit it. (I've never heard "lay that like hardwood flooring," so you've won whatever's left of the interwebz.)

55. Me too! xD

59. Eh. I don't know who the maker is, so I can't say anything about all of her icons. Of those, half are really dramatic cropping and half are just nuts. I see her point, as the really cropped ones show a singular emotion, but...I don't like this trend. :[

With the responses I've been getting, I think I've already won all the internets AND space some how.
Although credit does have to go to a friend of mine for coming up with that phrase. I'm just sharing the love and awesome of it.

29. I never thought I'd see an Anthony Bourdain secret here. Someone should throw in an Andrew Zimmern secret now. A Mike Rowe secret would make my year (I know people think he's hot - I met a girl when I worked at a craft store who fangirled him).

Re: 29

Sadly I'm too transfixed by Tony to take any note of the others, though that doesn't stop me from watching the various shows and what not.

I'm amazed, really, that there isn't more of a general Travel Channel/Food Network fandom. I'm seeing enough people HERE fanning over the various hosts and whatnot.

39. Yeah, I am distantly aware that in some strange universe, people played FF7 and cared about who Cloud was banging. And whether it was Tifa/Aerith/Sephiroth/Red XIII etc. etc.

I came out of it happy that Cid FINALLY REALIZED SHERA WAS RIGHT and hoping they'd have a ton of adorable swearing babies!

I'm just saying: it was nice to know she finally made an honest woman out of him in Advent Children.

Okay, when I read secret number 46, I threw up a little. Not gonna lie. It was like,
"Okay, secret 46...uh huh...woah, this is awkward...this is HOSHI-BLUUUCH!"

Except less dramatic...

65. I've seen atrocious Temari's. Very very bad. Whatever you look like I can assure you there is worse. So very worse. However you're probably right. She'd got the right frame to pack on some pounds and look nice.

11) Please no. The fandom is big enough as is. I like my fandoms tiny =/

[identity profile] myazureskye.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
not!secret#1, doesn't that sort of apply to EVERY fandom?

(Anonymous) 2008-03-22 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...but if you actually saw how obsessed I was, you'd understand. I actually lost friends because I was paying more attention to the fandom.

17- I don't believe you- about the animating at Pixar. There's too many "fake credentials tacked on to make secret look more legit" secrets here. It definitely deserved a nomination, which it was gypped out of completely. Nomininating Surf's Up was imho asinine. The Simpson's Movie was very good and that was a great scene. However, a win? Maybe during some years, but Ratatouille wasn't just the best animated movie of the year, it was very possibly the best movie period.

That being said if you did work there, I would think it normal to think that someone else's work is better than yours. *shrug*

70- Ditto. I liked the movie better in this case.
Edited 2008-03-22 05:16 (UTC)

Too big.

[identity profile] velvet-mace.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Too Big: Enjoying something in fiction doesn't mean you advocate it in life -- not even remotely. I don't know why it's so much more of a hang up for sex than it is for violence, but it is. You rarely see people ashamed of their love of slasherfics or dramas or even heist films, but nearly all would be appalled if people thought that they actually approved of those things (or would commit them) in real life.

(This is more about the non-con than the slash, because personally, I think you can be plenty religious and not have a problem with homosexuality. There are plenty of Christian churches who support gay and lesbian partnerships.)

HELL TO THE YES. Anthony Bourdain is, like, the starting point every time I attempt to make a top ten list of famous dudes I want to make it with.

Re: 29

Count me in with everyone else who loved Stardust the movie better than Stardust the book. I was seriously underwhelmed by the novel, but the movie was just so beautiful and enchanting. At one of the showings I went to, there were grown men applauding at the ending.

[identity profile] exhero.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
59. lol

61. What are you talking about? He's 100% more awesome than L. :P

58

[identity profile] polysamachan.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! Are you sure they'd be that upset? My mum is a New York Times bestseller, and has won a variety of awards I cannot remember the names of (because I am the best and most supportive daughter ever, obviously), and she was really proud of me when she saw that I was fanficcing. She even beta'd a few of the really crappy Mary Sues I wrote when I was younger. She said that she was just happy that I was writing and enjoying myself.

(Plus, I have heard her say on numerous occasions that she wishes there was fic for her books. I personally think that if they were a little less gruesome, she might get some. :|)

PS: I just keep thinking PHALLIC and CANADA. I'm not sure I want to know which aware that is.

Re: 58

(Anonymous) 2008-03-31 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
(Sorry for the late reply, I left on holiday hours after the secret was posted.)

I've heard my parent grumble about fic before. I bet they wouldn't mind if I wrote it just for the sake of writing but I seriously doubt they'd be happy I have it online.

That rocket is a Hugo Award, the Oscars of Science Fiction, awarded at the World Science Fiction Convention. This one here is from Torcon3 in Toronto in 2003. The base is always related to the host city.

[Oh snap, sorry for the login'd del and anon repost!]

2. You state your opinion like fact.

62. Kind of agree, actually. When I see like a MILLION variations with an icon, I kind of wish the creator would just pin it down to maybe like 2 or 3.

68. Your buddy here needs a paddle to the ass.

73. Mouse detective, awww yeah.

I thought I was the only one! I'm a huge Gaiman fan and own everything he's written, gone to signings and all. But even though I bought the first-edition hardback, color-illustrated version of Stardust when it first came out ages ago, I liked the movie way better. I thought it condensed it to the heart of the more interesting parts and expanded to make a great character!
