7. :C
17. Oh thank god I'm not the only one. I just about completely lost it at that scene. It was executed in such a manner that had never really been approached on the show and it hit hard. Just reading this secret got me all misty-eyed!
35. ;.;

16. ermmm 'handler' is the term for the person who manages a spy. it's not really a sexual reference? it's more like a spy reference. because. you know. CIA.

64. LOL, seriously? since when is she a slut? OHNOES SHE WAS IN TWO MONOGAMOUS RELATIONSHIPS HOLY SHIT WHAT A WHORE. SITTING ON MONSTROSO'S LAP, SO SCANDALOUS, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE LIKE FIVE OF THEM IN IT. SUCH A SLUT, WANTING TO BE ~TAKEN~ BY BROCK SAMSON, well honestly who could blame her for that one.

28. S-squeaky penis...oh lord...XDD GREAT NOW I WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY EVER AGAIN EITHER.

39. You? Yeah, you're my hero. XD Cid/Shera for the fucking win. In fact, Cid/Shera/GODDAMNED TEA is my all-time OT3. XD (Though I do think its fair to let people slash how they please. On the other hand, the only slash I've ever seen of Cid is with Vincent and I just...don't get that?)

52. sjkghdfkgj FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST DOCTOR EVER.

71. Vincent/Lucretia is also for the win. Though I despised Dirge. XD;

[identity profile] hopelikefever.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
2. Haha, I understand what you mean. I know that, personally, I find enjoyment in watching dark anime shows because it allows me to release emotions that I normally don't in a more healthy way than wallowing in self-pity. I'm the type of person who shoves my problems under the rug and ignores them, so if I can get a good cry out of relating to a character, or someone dying in a show rather than my own problems, I'd much prefer the former. D-Does that make sense? ^^;

8. You're not the only one. Seriously. I don't even like adult/child ships (or ships involving young children in general).

23. Lollerskates, the irony!11!

24. Dude, I don't even watch 00 and I think that's hot. I will look at it, if no one else will. I freakin' love self-cest. Especially if one half is crazy.

28. LMFAO. OH, EDGEWORTH. ♥ It's okay, I always imagined him to have thong underwear with a cravat on the front, sooo...

31. What, do you have to be a lesbian to be feminist now...?

37. I'm curious to hear your interpretation of Fuuma's character. I'm not being sarcastic at all, I really am. He's really intriguing to me.

39. Pfft, like they totally weren't living together anyway. I saw that coming from a mile away.

52. I love that guy, but every time I see him, I remember a commercial I saw with him for Erectile Dysfunction. Our relationship just hasn't been the same since. :'(

55. CHRIST, ME TOO. Even in real life. It always makes me smile, though.

65. Do it anyway! I'll think it's sexy, so long as it's well-made, so if anyone tells you otherwise, I'll punch them in the face.

71. Pfft, no one has respect for anyone in the FFVII community anymore, so don't sweat it. Personally, I didn't really like Vincent until I saw him in Advent Children and DoC, because the little lego version of him made him 10x more wanky and hilarious. Granted, he's still wanky and hilarious, but slightly less so.

OP of 37

(Anonymous) 2008-03-22 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I believe that when Fuuma 'awakened', his own innate psychic powers awoke, and he gained insight into his place in the Final Battle. I think that his power to see the Wishes of others is completely appropriate given his altruistic behavior prior to his awakening, but at the same time it has caused him to lose much of his faith in humanity as a whole.

I think that, when he killed Kotori, he was actually fulfilling her Wish. Namely, that she should "shatter rather than the Earth". I think that he hurts Kamui because, on some unconscious level, Kamui wishes to be hurt.

I think that, above all else, Fuuma is a victim of his own power. I feel very sorry for him.

31: It's not so strange to think such a thing. A feminist is what you believe politically. As my psychology professor says, "All bets are off in the bedroom."

37: It's kind of funny, because most people that bring up multiple personality disorder in the pop culture way haven't stayed in the loop long enough to know that it's called dissociative identity disorder now. Also, most people with DID were sexually abused in late childhood or early adolescence.

I hope I didn't just give someone a fanfic prompt, there.

43: Please tell the truth sooner rather than later. Lying creates undue amounts of anxiety, and there is no shame in being female.

53: I know where you're coming from. It sounds a bit like a reinforcement syndrome. "See? I have all of these things that are exciting. Aren't I a great culture?" Japan is very progressive and good in many ways, but it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

It's fine to like a country or an area as long as one has all the facts. I'm not sure most Japanophiles have that information.

68: I get the feeling that people do this with Japanese much more often than they do it with other languages. Not sure why.

68 op

(Anonymous) 2008-03-22 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's because there's a lot of East Asians for which Japanese is very similar to their language and hence they'd rather revert to speaking broken Japanese than broken English (hey, Japanese is more Authentic anyway) And then everyone else doesn't want to look like they don't know any.

I dunno, for entertainment that is primarily in some other language there's usually less of that "I gotta show off" attitude...? Maybe fans of Japanese stuff find Japanese cooler than fans of Spanish shows find Spanish, perhaps. o_o

35. I love John Ritter too...really, you could tell he was a lovely person. God dammit this secret made me cry. :(

53. Amen, living in Japan would fucking suck, especially as a foreigner. A vast amount of them are elitist as all hell.

59. Wow, you're right. Those crops suck ass.

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
35. Hahah, forgot to mention I've been seriously collecting everything he's been in since he died.

Seriously, I fell asleep to Three's Company on NickatNite for so long... :

28) This is now canon for me.

42) I feel the same way. :/ But every time fandom annoys me or pisses me off, something pops up that makes me happy about it again. So, uh, more of a love/hate relationship I guess?

52) He was the best part of Voyager y/n?

Yay for Gundam 00 secrets~ ♥ Even. . .the one that isn't a positive one.

5. I am sure a lot of us thought that at some time. Whether it is for Fandom Secrets, LJ Secrets, or Post Secret. Just as there are secrets that will make you feel better, knowing you aren't the only one. . .

17. I was very moved by that scene. Felt strange since it was the Simpsons. . .but I couldn't help it.

59. I know what you mean. ._. I don't get it either.

62. That doesn't only happen in Code Geass. ._. Seems to be everywhere. It annoys me too.

2: Sounds like you don't understand your friends either...

14: ..."Elitest"?

I find D.gray-man rather original, actually (it has some things in common with FMA, but not, I think, enough to call it a ripoff, and FMA is more popular in any case). But it's not like I've read all the manga out there.

31: Because wanting to have sex with someone just because they're hot is somehow connected to limiting women's choices in life? I would have thought it was the other way around...

37: Of these two I only know Kurama, but I agree SO MUCH. And I don't thinnk there is any canon support for the MPD/different people for him, though I don't know for sure since I haven't read the entire manga yet.

53: There is a big difference between being interested in a country and its history and culture, and unconditionally loving it all as superior. Being very interested in something doesn't mean one approves of everything concerning it. I've met both types in fandom, but generally the ones who are blind to Japan's faults tend to grow out of it after a while. It's just a question of maturity.

71: Unless later parts are incompatible with the original, I just incorporate them with what I see as canon as a whole. I could never ignore new parts of canon, unless they contradict the old one, and in that case I just leave that out.

So in short, I agree; new canon is as much part of a character as old. My pairing of choice is Vincent/Cloud though, sorry. :)

OP of 37

(Anonymous) 2008-03-22 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't come from the manga. It comes from the anime DUB, and I suspect that they gave those hints about his personality precisely because they didn't like the idea of one the Heroes actually being a 1000 demon who is capable of incredible cruelty when provoked.

2. That's cool, as long as you don't fap to it. That's creepy.

5. Seriously, who doesn't?

25. Geez, and I thought people that slash J Rockers were kinda crazy.

37. I feel for ya. X3

39. DUDE HOW DID PEOPLE NOT SEE CID X SHERA COMING? Madness.

43. You fail. Don't worry, people will find out eventually.

50. I'm confused.

53. QQ, author. There's a lot of Japanese entertainment and shit that I love but I'd never want to live there for an extended period of time. I don't think it's a TON better than the US or whatever. I just wish it were cheaper to visit.

71. Wow, I salute you for actually liking the game without having played FFVII. No, you are not the only Vincent x Lucrecia shipper but it's a lonely world. I've always been terribly fond of their mostly-unrequited-love-but-probably-not-entirely-unrequited relationship. FFVII wasn't really clear as to whether or not they had ever had a relationship, only that she eventually went to Hojo. I was always under the impression that she left Vincent for Hojo for some reason.

39, 71

[identity profile] lanjelin.livejournal.com 2008-03-22 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
39: Yes, I thought it was rather obvious when their story was told; I mean, it's a classic setup for a particular type of romance. I recognised the pattern right away.

Of course, I stil think people should ship whatever they like. Just pay attention to canon and take it into account when doing it. it might make certain ships more difficult, but very little is impossible!

71: The only thing that was completely without question in FFVII was that Vincent was completely in love with her. My impression was that it was unrequited, but I couldn't say for sure.
