You're not a selfish bitch. You're realistic. Competitions aren't meant to be warm and fuzzy. I get so pissed off when I watch shows like Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice, and so on that are based more on veiwer votes than on judge's scores. There's always this huge support for people who are more popular, even if they're TOTAL SHIT. Okay, so they're fuckable. They still can't dance/skate for crap. They do NOT deserve to get through! AUGH!
Same with art. Yay for encouraging new people, but do it in comments and not in votes. If they win with lame art they may start to believe they're good. This is BAD. Losing with help encourage practice and hard work so that when they finally win they can properly feel like they've Achieved something, and not been handed it.

I'm actually running an art contest right now and the ammount of entries I'm getting that make me want to delete them is sad. I could draw better than most of these people in 6th grade. Why do they think they're going to win?
I still thank them for trying. They don't have a chance in hell.
