No. I hate that fan theory. People just don't want to admit that he was the dumb comic relief to appeal to the children.

It's not all that different than the "2edgy4me" bullshit headcanons like Ash is in a coma or that Angelica just made up the Rugrats babies, etc.

The Walking Dead

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2016-07-31 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"In The Walking Dead, walkers can get so close unnoticed because the main characters are all suffering from a large amount of hearing loss from repeatedly firing off guns without hearing protection. Rick went mostly deaf in that tank in Atlanta, everyone else had a similar experience off camera. Now they don't even flinch when a gun goes off, they're all deafer than fuck, stomping through the woods, yelling at each other constantly. That's why they keep attracting walkers, they have no clue how loud they're being."

Wow, this explains so much. The characters aren't stupid, they're just all deaf! :D

I've never heard this one, but I approve of it. It would indeed explain some things.

Harry Potter

Draco Malfoy was a werewolf.

(Glad I didn't encounter this when I was 16, though; my brain would have melted with the Angst and I probably would have done regrettable things.)

Why are you giving me fuel to return to HP, anon? Why??

I usually go for the Scabior is a werewolf, or straight for Lupin, or occasionally Fenrir himself. But damn anon.

Moulin Rouge + Titanic

(Anonymous) 2016-07-31 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't remember the exact details, but from a secret posted some years ago:

After the end of Moulin Rouge, Christian's book becomes a world-wide hit. While traveling in the USA to promote it he runs into Rose DeWitt Bukater who, unlike most people, means it when she says "I know what you've been through." They become friends through their shared experiences, each others second loves, and eventually get married and have kids. They have a good life together and when he passes away Rose isn't sad, because she knows he'll be with Satine again just like she'll be with Jack.

It doesn't match up perfectly with the movies, but I always thought it was sweet and it helped with my "what about Rose's husband?!"-reaction at the end of Titanic.

Starfleet is full of deranged neophiles racing around space in the most bleeding edge tech possible :no other species has all the wacky failures and holodeck disasters because they are much more reasonable. It's also why humans seem to disproportionately die but also disproportionately win; no one can predict their crazy new inventions.

Alien, Predator, Blade Runner and Avatar (the blue cat people one) are set in the same universe. Possibly Terminator, Robocop, and Escape from New York as well. (And The Warriors is a prequel to Escape from New York.)

Avatar: The Last Airbender, and a book nobody's ever heard of

[personal profile] lb_lee 2016-08-01 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
This one is one nobody will know or get but me, but "Avatar: The Last Airbender" being set in the same universe (though much later) than Sasha Miller's novel Ladylord. I imagine Ladylord takes place before people really figured out bending.

In Ladylord, it focuses on a fantasy society based on feudal Japan (SO NOT FIRE NATION) and dragons being separated from humans involving an enchanted wall. You have a bunch of dark-skinned desert-dwellers that ride large birds (SO NOT SAND-BENDERS) and a huge sprawling land with a million gods and a million people (SO NOT EARTH NATION, though not a very nice part of it). There's lots of the nasty intrigue and shenanigans you expect from the Fire Nation, which is foreshadowing of its eventual descent into the militarism of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

...as you can see, I've thought about this a lot.

I've also had folks set forth headcanons/theories about my own stories that I liked so much better than my original idea that I was like, "Congrats, it is now canon." Great feeling.
