It's because Japanese honorifics have no equivalent in English, and they convey information about characterization and relationships that can't be conveyed otherwise. I note that you haven't provided a reason why they should be left out; do you have any, or is this just a gut reaction? If you have a reason, I'd be interested to hear it. If not, well... consensus is against you, and you're going to have to live with it.

I've read Howl's Moving Castle. It is quite a lovely book. And I loved Howl's and Sophie's love. Brilliant.
It's just, as someone else said, the idea of predestined True Love that often turns out Twilight-y.
