54. Awww, I really miss it, too. I honestly wish there was another active Eyeshield game out there, even just for stalking.

55. While I wouldn't call it lazy, I honestly have to agree that most of the time, I'm happier when honorifics aren't brought into translations of anime and manga. Sure, for series like Fruits Basket, there are points where it's important, but I feel that the translations of most series read better without them and that if given enough thought and effort, a translation could be worded to work around them entirely.

However, it's also my belief that fan translations should first and foremost focus on bringing general knowledge to the series and more detailed things like ease of reading should be left to those who are being paid to adapt and translate it professionally.

Problem is, they DON'T get it correctly or have a horrible alternative (and I've seen them). And omitting them is just as bad (Viz's translation of Prince of Tennis comes to mind.)

I totally agree - if you're going to translate something do it properly. Those words aren't part of English and what they represent can be done perfectly well in the target language, so they are unnecessary and a bit irritating.

there were a lot of ugly secrets this time. Unreadable font, size, or on stupid choice of background so you couldn't see the words. Really ugly color combinations so it hurts the eyes. Really long secrets with tiny text.

Twilight was the worst book in the series, though! New Moon was infinitely better in terms of characters (because Edward is absent for 90% of the book). And, in terms of actualy writing technique, Eclipse is the best of the three. Still sub par in terms of literature as a whole, but it did get better after that atrocious book.

And in New Moon, there is a more realistic/healthy relationship for Bella.

13. I know Batman is cool as shit (my fave superhero ever), but I rather not be in his position. Losing dear ones hurt as fuck (I know because I lost three very close family members in a span of six years and that messed me up especially my younger uncle's death, which my first experience with familial death, put me into depression and a bad case of existential angst), I don't want to imagine if I lost the rest of my family (especially my mother or my sister, their deaths would completely break me and I would lose my mind or worse, I know it). Plus, the dude has lots and lots of problems. I rather pretend to be him through the comics/TV/whatever than actually BE him. No thanks.

It was one of the reasons I took Japanese in college (and that I wanted a challenge [I love studying languages] and was disenchanted with the romantic languages). Now I'm somewhat fluent at reading it even though I forget verbs but I have the grammar down pat and that's the more important part.

55. Because you don't understand the significance of honorifics. There is a reason why they use honorifics and the like in Japan: to denote what kind of relationship they have with a person, plus it gives a glimpse of what kind of personality the speaker has (a polite person would use "-san"; laid back would use the person's first name, which is extremely personal to do and can be very rude.) A change of honorifics indicates that the person has either a more closer/distant relationship with the person in question. That's why it's pretty important to leave it in.

58. HO SHI- I used to own all DKC games for the SNES before my cousin lost them (still a sore memory). It was awesome but I felt the first one was still the best out of the three (and three kinda sucked monkey balls [no pun intended]).

26 - How true. It's saddening when literature helps perpetuate really shitty concepts of how relationships really work. Controlling and obsessive = bad.

28 - Fuck your "friend" then. Calling you a weeaboo because you want to learn Japanese is stupid. It's a damned hard language, but if you can stick with it, it's a lot of fun. Go for it!

41 - Yeah, same here, except I'm a lesbian. But I still prefer my male OCs to my females.

53 - Yeah, I've gotten that treatment too. :( It really sucks.

55 - Depends on context, I guess. If the story takes place in Japan or a Japan-like world, then the honorifics really ought to be there, because they give a lot of dimension to how the characters look at each other. But if it's not in Japan or a similar culture, then it's just weird.
