This is such an odd comment to me, especially in the context of the discussion/what you're refuting.

Yeah, I know. I used to be a fun person, but the super seriousness of this decade has turned me into a pathologically unfun person, too.

I'm really not sure I know what you mean. Are you being sad that "this decade" has included more consciousness and critique of oppressive and harmful structures on a popular level, as discussed above?

Yes.

I really enjoyed watching my oh-so-gross music videos and reading my oh-so-creepy power disparity fic and only being preached at about it by religious whackjobs who were easy enough to ignore.

So basically you're bummed that harmful/oppressive structures and practices are being calling into question?

When they're happening in real life? No.

When they're happening in entertainment media? You bet!

Do you think that there's any connection between messages in entertainment, and peoples' beliefs in real life?

No. I actually think that's a very insulting idea, as though people are too stupid to understand the difference between reality and make-believe.

1) entertainment media both reflects and reinforces real social structures, including oppressive ones, and imagining that it is created and consumed in a vacuum separate from those social problems simply because it's entertainment is stupidly naive

2) nobody is saying you can't continue to enjoy things that aren't progressive/perfect!

Uh. Well. Sorry that increasing awareness of societal injustice has made things less fun for you personally.

Those preaching about all this injustice don't seem to be very happy people, either. But I guess they're happy being unhappy or something?

I don't think they see it as a choice. I think they see it as how you have to exist, as a moral being in an unjust world.

That's really sad that some people don't see happiness as a choice.

I'm pretty sure it's the injustice that makes them unhappy, not pointing it out.

Duh. I get that. I just think spending your life wallowing in your victimhood is pathetic. Everyone has problems, and some people with very serious problems still manage to not be chronically unhappy.

People seem to disagree with you but I get what you're saying and more or less agree. Power disparity fic for example. "Not your thing?" You go for it, different interests are no problem. "The whole genre is creepy and gross ew ew your kink is not my kink and that's soooo gross?" You probably aren't mature enough to handle NC17 fic.

People are more disagreeing because OP is making very, very broad and strong and generalized versions of that argument.
