Not the OP, but JKR has said before that if Tom had been raised with a loving family he would have turned out differently. I couldn't link you to it right now (although I could probably investigate and find it), but I distinctly remember it BECAUSE I thought that completely diminished the fact that the character is an obvious sociopath, and they don't know why sociopaths are the way they are, but they crop up in all sorts of home situations, not just ones of abuse. And frankly, the idea of Voldemort being redeemable makes him less interesting to me. Because, what that comes down to is, basically, 'omg there is a secret good guy with a heart of gold hiding inside big bad voldiepants'. It's on par with trying to redeem Bellatrix Lestrange, she couldn't be more fucking out of her mind, and yet people in rp and fanfiction try to make her something other than completely homicidal and with a heavy liking for torture (and as someone who actually loves her husband rather than Voldemort, something else that JKR has completely shattered in interviews... did they not notice her gagging for the big Dark Lord every scene they have together? wha?)

However, I do think that if Dumbledore had been more actively involved with Tom, rather than giving him up as a lost cause from the beginning, he could have had much more influence in guiding the way Tom chose to let his problems manifest. Because a lot of sociopaths manage day-to-day life without trying to attempt genocide, and Tom could have done what was best for himself and occasionally get his kicks at the expense of others without causing a massive war that killed probably thousands of people. All he had to do was go into "legitimate" politics. But being rejected from the beginning allowed his issues to morph into a rampage.

9 - I know EXACTLY what you mean. And most people just don't get it unless they've been there too. It's NOT okay to tell me that "real women have curves". It's NOT okay to tell me I look gross, disgusting, emaciated, etc etc because I'm skinny. It's NOT okay to belittle me in ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM because of my appearance! So what if being thin is what most of society finds attractive? That doesn't mean I can't or don't have my own issues with my appearance, or that being called "gross" isn't hurtful. I used to have an eating disorder a few years ago (though I am naturally thin) and am very self-conscious about my weight, though getting better about it. Don't fucking tell me to eat a goddamn burger. What if I legitimately had an eating disorder when you said that to me? Do you really think it would help? No - you're just trying to be an ass and make me feel bad about myself.

Ugh, sorry for getting riled up. It's kind of a sore spot for me. It's been a lot of hard work to even get as comfortable with my body as I am, and I still have a long way to go - getting remarks like that DOES NOT HELP, and believe me, I get them a lot.

35.) You win an internet. Half the time, people forget about the icons anyways. After they move on from the fandom, it doesn't mean anything. They are pictures that you took from a copyrighted source and shrunk down for use. That's it. It's more annoying when it's just a cropped screencaps, with slight random color adjustment anyone can do if they beat around the image editor enough.

Considering everything that goes into making icons that don't belong to the icon maker, I completely agree with this. I can understand crediting brushes when you make icons. Those are original.

But icons are just silly little pictures. I credit to try and not make people mad, but...seriously? wtf.

39. He's my least favourite of the villains (with the exception of the Saint Beasts, who were just...bleh) for many of the reasons that you brought up. I disagree that his disease is a useless and poorly contrived plot point, because I do think that it was consistent and gave more depth to his character. Even as my least liked villain from YYH, he's one of my better-liked villains from anime in general. Togashi has a talent for making twistedly noble bad guys.

05. Now I perfectly understand why anyone would. I have had an on and off relationship with it. However, please do not clump all anime into one genre, one kind of fan, etc. If you do that, or don't give any reasoning as to WHY i can't respect this statement. Don't be shallow, even if it is a secret. Also may I ask, is it the people into it that makes you hate it, or it itself?
