I think it will make more money. Lasting popularity, I'm not so sure about. Lots of high profile movies with big stars make giant box office opening days... before everyone realizes it sucks.

the true test to see how many fans there are is how many fics are left after you've filtered out all the other pairings

not many people waste time writing solely for a pairing they don't really enjoy

I can't seem to get the image alone from imgur anymore. i used to use the url and add .jpg/.png at the end, and then it would come up in F!S-usable format. Is there a new trick with the new setup? The Google-fu is not strong in this one...

I kind of feel this way too. Like I think we've even kind of seen it in flashbacks with some of the other characters. They were good people, but not really the sorts of saints they're made out to be. Still kind of surprised that little box didn't glow red at Tahani when she was namedropping in Michael's office.

What made the old franchise so great was its ability to make fun of itself. It knew what it was, between action scenes. I just can't see Tom Cruise carrying that kind of series. The guy is like chronically crazy-eyed serious. The only comedic roles I've ever thought he was good in was when he was playing a character that is supposed to be chronically crazy-eyed serious.

1. that screencap is a bit misleading...there's actually only 12 castiel/mary fanfics under the pairing tag. that's pretty much nothing.

2. I don't ship it because I want to sink destiel; I just think the fallout in fandom would be pretty funny. I don't ship wincest either and I don't actually think castiel/mary is something would realistically happen.

Lol, there's seriously only 12 fics? For a pairing in Supernatural? That's less than nothing. Like, I feel like you could get more fic for a pairing by accident.

Also, all the fics in the castiel/mary tag were written before season 12 premiered and 11 of them were written before the season 11 finale in which mary was even resurrected. 4 of the 12 fics also contain destiel, so they don't appear to be written by spiteshipping wincest fans
