Also, I kind of wonder about that too, sometimes, like where I'll be in twenty (or thirty or forty) years with regards to fandom--will I have good new ones, will my old ones die completely or just slow down, will I still be in touch with anyone I know now, will I still be interested at all--but que sera sera, you know?

44. The thing about going to college is, your academic and social lives become pretty integrated. You might end up having more time for fandom than you think. And if you make friends who are also into fandom, that's even more.

ETA because it didn't load the first time: 04. Are you saying that the half of fandom that thinks the manga was a religious tract and Light should have won is stupid and inappropriate, or that the half that does it all for the lulz because they clearly don't understand the serious business going on in Death Note is stupid and inappropriate? If it's the first one, I'm pretty sure mocking people like that is its own category of fandom activity, so if you look at it from that perspective, they're actually a very important part of the community. If it's the second one, perhaps you should watch the anime again, especially the last couple episodes, because that was like the definition of unintentional hilarity right there.

4- I think you put your finger on exactly what bothers me about DN fandom, and why I've never gotten into it.

13- I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH. Because that is so made of awesome. (I'm sorry you're being serious, and this is probably a big deal for you, but...it was...awesome)

31- I think a lot of it is nostalgia, and also that it was just...different from the Disney formula...which although *I* personally got a lot of "different" animated movies (And probably those in this community as well) a lot of kids our age didn't see anything that wasn't what was right there in front of them, and this one ended up being there. If that makes sense. (I like it, but ti's not my fav ever)

39- Agreed. although some people who "Fandom is my life" might mean sitting in a dark room with no personal hygiene, I've never had it as such.

50- If there's not enough for people to obsess over, how is there enough for you to HATE SO FUCKING MUCH. Like...I can see not liking him but really...calm down now.

31. For me it is because it is part of my childhood. I watched it as a little girl, and it was my favorite movie along with my best friend at the time. We use to play games about it.

I watched Dark Crystal recently. . .and wow. I remember watching it once when I was younger and I enjoyed it. . .just not as much as the Last Unicorn. I am kind of disappointed now that I saw the Dark Crystal again. . .and probably because it isn't really rooted into my childhood.

50. Well, in the case of the sane fans, because he's a sleazy asshole who makes everything funnier in a terrible sort of plate-dropping way. It's really possible to like despicable characters when they're awesome. No rly. Though to be honest, any time I see anyone hating on a FFVII character who is a douchebag, I wonder if they noticed that something like 90% of the characters in that game are prime goddamn examples of all the ways people can be fucked up.

It looks like they removed it from Wiki, but when the show first started airing I was curious so I went and looked at the Wikis they'd had up for the people who made it through Hollywood Week, and I know for a fact that it said that David was openly gay. Granted it's wiki, but I'm betting someone went in and removed that to keep his image with the ladies.

It's really obvious that all the girls screaming for him make him uncomfortable though, he always looks really awkward when they're screaming for him XD
