I think that person just takes fanfic way too seriously.

If you're over fifteen (or any age, really), reasonably well-adjusted and writing fanfic, I think it's safe to say you do it 'cause it's fun and 'cause it lets you interact and touch base with other people, not because you're trying to make some grand artistic statement about the root of true innovation.

Let's pick on people who draw fanart next, as though it really makes a whit of difference.

If I, personally, had RPS written about me I might be creeped out because people really shouldn't know who I am. But if I were famous, I'd probably just shrug it off or maybe laugh.

A rape/torture thing, yeah, that would creep me out but knowing what I do of RPS (though I don't write it myself) I'd probably shrug that off too in the end.

18. No offence, but, ew. His books make my head ache. It's a bad fanfic made of copy & paste from other great books, with flat characters, with more plotholes than Swiss cheese and a vomit-inducing style of purple prose. As for the author himself, he sounds like a pretentious jerk - but I don't want to go there, I don't know the man.

Too Big!3. Why do you bash on fan fiction writers? Fan fiction is a great practice for polishing up your writing style without having to worry in giving consistency for characters nor backgrounds or anything of the like. It's just like any other form entertainment: like singing a song that does not belong to you for practice, drawing a character from your favourite show. Also, if you're past 15 and can't get the width & height limits right, what does that say?
