I'll have to look for those essays but meanwhile thaaank you. I keep seeing people responding to the secret with "Yeah, you're right, Kishimoto sucks at writing women!" and it's like...way to miss my point :/

I love most of Kishimoto's women, but the lack of respect with which he often treats them once he's created them is fucking depressing. But then again, the way fandom misinterprets and exaggerates said sexism is telling. Like, why do so many of them insist that Sakura and Ino's fight was over a boy when the manga explicitly states that it wasn't? Is it really that hard to imagine a situation involving two girls and a boy...that is really all about the two girls because the boy is just not that relevant?
