A week ago maybe, there was a thread on media we've been told were "just like" other media, only we disagree. This is similar, except not that people necessarily say those 2-3 things are alike, but that if you like one thing, you'll like them. Or otherwise lump them together.

I've noticed my circle has diminished to basically Facebook and Instagram, and I don't actually interact much on those. I sometimes come here, but it's not often and I'm usually a lurker. I used to be super active in a lot of communities, so this realization kind of saddens me. And got me curious about where others are gathering these days.

Quick Fanfic Vent

There is this thing in ship fic, especially enemy or rival shipfic, or shipfic where relations between the pair soured drastically in later canon, where fanauthors have one character with a really excellent canon reason to distrust the other character and the fic just basically overrides this well-founded mistrust with some quick verbal apologies and physical affection. I hate that. I really do. Especially the physical affection part, this whole 'if I hug/kiss/fuck you enough, we can just forget that I horribly betrayed you' sort of vibe it gives off. Like, I actually love a fair few enemy/rival ships, I just like things to be either fucked up on purpose or extremely upfront and honest about what the characters have to overcome to get together, instead of just having one character half-assedly apologise and try to cuddle to gloss over everything they've just done.

And, sorry for the random rant, I just needed to vent. A fic I was reading just took a sudden swerve in this direction with a secondary pairing.

Even after the disappointment of the last exchange I signed up for I considered signing up for another. But none of the pairings I liked had been nominated yet. I finally decided what the heck, nominate just the few pairings I like and request/offer just those and if I can't be matched with anyone then oh well I can drop out.
Went to nominate and I just barely missed the deadline.
Oh well. At least this way I can't be disappointed?

My job is life-draining, but I have no other prospects at the moment despite putting in applications in a bunch of places. I wish customers weren't such goddamned animals. Nothing has made me lose complete faith in humanity quite like retail.
