14. Agreed. Japan has some of the most amazing gameshows.

25. Isn't Moses/Ramses incest-y, also? Mind, I don't know the actual Bible story, but I thought Moses was adopted into the family, essentially.

44. LOVE the idea! You could have your own fandom for that. I'd join, just for the crack!fic.

53. ...agreed.

54. Please, calm down. I can understand anger at the idea of your icons being stolen, since you obviously put so much effort into them, but telling writers or students to devote so much time to making their own seems extreme. I am not an artist. I am not interested in making icons. I will not. And I will not treat icons as status symbols, the way you implied, and I believe, exaggerated.

61. AGREED. Wtf, Twilight fandom? Wtf. Someone explain to me the appeal - in a way that isn't bathed in stupid and rabid fangirl.

64. See, I don't envision myself visiting Japan, therefore I don't see the language as necessary. It seems excessive to learn it just for fandom. Maybe how to read Japanese, but I know I'd spend the most time struggling on accent, and I just don't think it's worth it if I never go to Japan.

Could someone tell me the name of 16, 30 and please, please, please, 57 and 71? I so want to check those out.

I don't know about any of the other ones, but 30 is Stardust. It's a great movie, you'll love it.

2-What IS it D:

9- OMG things do things you don't like that have little to know effect on you except insulting your delicate sensibilities!

24- You...you didn't know they were editted D:

46- You think anime made past the mid-90's sucked and you liked project A-ko? That shit made me want to gouge my eyes out. And ears. And generally kill myself. Honestly, we have some fandoms in common and I'm still am like "You're kidding, right?"

54- It amuses me you are SO FUCKING worked up about...using other people's icons? Look I CAN make icons that I don't mind using, I DO make them occasionally, I just don't really enjoy it, and so HOMG don't put effort into it. I have better things to do with my time then take hours to teach myself to do something I don't really enjoy or need.

It'd be like teaching myself to type set books instead of just going to the library.

59- They are def. peers.

63- Our radio DJ freaked out way more about the daddy ones.

09 - OMG so i should go to another anime convention because nobody punched me in the face? :D I didn't know I needed a reason NOT go somewhere beyond the fact that I hated it.

01. Be like me and avoid the Internet until you finish the game. Meh, I don't let people fuck it up for me and you shouldn't either.

09. Maybe you had a bad con experience. I understand the BO thing, I'm just glad the cons I go to have to actually address the matter. I'm sorry, people, it's not that hard to take at least a 5-minute bath. And the bad cosplaying is gonna be rampant, at least when you see good cosplay, it makes you happy.

16. LOL, Wild Rock. Man, I wish there was a sequel to this (and new extra in the re-release of the oneshot was pretty nice).

18. So... what that say for the guys liking lesbians and thinking male gays are utterly disgusting. Funny, it's nearly always the fujoshi who have to put up with this shit and never the guys. It's the same thing to them. It's "1 hot guy + 1 hot guy = better" for them. They aren't obligated to like yuri or femslash if they don't. Personally, I'm a fujoshi for BL, yuri and het. Har har. But I like it for the romance.

21. Don't worry, I felt bad for Timon and Pumba too. ;_; It was sad.

24. LOL Kunoichi, isn't it? I have to see the unedited ones (I figure they prolly where one hour shows).

26. I remember this, much LULZ had been had since I was such a BSB fan back then.

40. What this?

46. Oh HELL no. But saying that you're regarding Utena, Cowboy Bebop and many other greats after 1995. As a former Ranma fan, the anime was only good for the first three seasons before it got repetitive and dragged out with very, very slow character development, Akira was vastly overrated outside of its animation, Sailor Moon isn't that good once you revisit it (hell, I knew it was kinda bad when I was a big fan of it), Voltron and Project Ako are campy fun (Project Ako was laden with fanservice as well). I like some vintage anime too, but I'm not stupid enough that most of the old stuff was pretty mediocre to shit too and that the quality of anime didn't change one bit.

52. LOL, nice.

54. You know, there's some people who just can't use Photoshop, y'know. I seen this happen in my classes where people just suck at it.

57. Holy shit, now I have to read this. Also, I would hit them both too. Unf. Although I still wish that Chrono would finish Peacemaker Kurogane, dammit.

63. You know, I never got the fucking big deal with that picture. "Oh shit, she eluding that she's naked under that cloth although only her back is showing!" It's a pretty classy and tasteful pic that can be considered art. I admit the pic with her dad is a lot more sexy than that. What...

64. I have to do mine, seriously.

74. Grimmer LOVE. I dunno, I find Tenma to be the most attractive. HUR DUR.

75. Err, write them? Honestly, people, stop expecting people to write what you want.

07. Chill, dude. The reason some H/W shippers love Amber is because her relationship with Wilson is actually giving us tons of HoYay to play with. I'm not a big fan of her either, but I appreciate her as a plot device, at least.

18. YES YES YES YES YES. I mean, I guess I understand that maybe some straight women wouldn't be fans of the ladyporn, but come ON, there's no reason to flip the fuck out about women gettin' it on if you don't mind guys gettin' it on. Hypocrisy much? (Especially since half the time it seems to be all about chicks with dicks anyway.)

23. Aww, exactly. ♥

25. omg, The Ten Commandments

Yule Brynner as Ramses? Fuck yeah I'd go straight for that.

27. JOURNEY (FUCK YEAH JOURNEY)!

43. AGH I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. I can't ever spell sherrif sherriff sheriff right, myself. And I'm graduating college as an English major tomorrow.

54. *yawn*

73. I wish James Bond were a woman... yeeeeah, that'd be hot...

I won't reiterate what others have said. I just wanted to add that there are TWO major points to icon-making -- the technical skill and *having the idea in the first place*. A bunch of my icons made by other people are ones that I never ever would have thought to make, because their sense of humor/art/whatever is different, but I love them.

(uses animated icon made by myself with an intentionally ugly font, just for LOLs)

47. Oh, yeah, my inclination to do things to him let him do things to him GUH SEX NOW is pretty much directly in proportion to how fucked up he is. I'm pretty sure I remember that in the time before I heard Murder Ballads I just, like, appreciated him for his music.

caveat--do not know any of the RPers, I stay far far away from RP in the pw fandom.

But all the icons above are of old Klav, while that one icon of the RPer in question looks like young Klav to me. Wouldn't they essentially be RPing different characters? flashback Klav seemed a lot cockier and full of himself than normal Klavier did...

...maybe that has something to do with it? You're used to adult Klavier instead of younger one?

01. Just don't play those games and enjoy others?

19. I think she's a character and she's out to challenge House who usually wins... which is really pretty awesome.

32. I agree. The whole preppy change was a negative to me.

38. Seriously, she was the first female I was able to connect with as well. I always felt like a princes, never a princess.

45. I actually think he's a pretty unique character for most of things and especially out of this shitty manga. I just feel he's so developed compared to the rest.

46. I'll sympathize. I haven't watched anime in years nor can I stand most of the things I have. I miss the old stuff, but I'm happy we don't have a bunch of tards in the past, but I wish someone knew what I was talking about.

51. Me too XD my friends wanted me to prove it an then they just got sad when I did. Digimon <3

63. Haha wow... that bottom pic IS creepy. I also didn't see the top one as that scandalous...

75. I used to write those... until I disappeared from fandom because I left for a similar reason haha.

02. Th-... they GOT RID of Lilo? This isn't just... something alternate or something like that? saufhajfahfujasfafauk D:

07. Yeah, um, lol. It IS possible to support more than one pairing, and to like a character even if they "get in the way of your GASP OTP." Sometimes canon pairings interest me a lot less than fanon ones, but I don't get the idea of hating the canon love interest, or other fanon ones. The one time I hate the word "OTP" is when it's getting waved like some retarded battle flag. ):

However, I have belonged to, say, an A/B pairing comm where people seem to think that if they have written a graphicly B/C story, but mention the existance of A (or even A/B as an afterthought), the fic deserves to go in the A/B comm. So I feel that amount of pain, at least, if that's what's happening.

09. I can't argue with your choice o____o but my god, I want to know what conventions all you people go to and who you hang out with. Because I've heard all the horror stories, but the few con experiences I've had have been a thankfully trauma-free blast.

10. Sounds like a good acid test ♥ I never get the people who make secrets that say "I could never tell my significant other I love this show/game/series/pairing/other interest, I'm so scared of how they'd react!" Um... think that's a relationship you shouldn't be in, much? Your method sounds grand though. (:

17. L-lol but people don't always wear cosplay so they can look marvelous. I'd probably look like a ninny (especially since I am a tiny, tiny woman), but I think Edgeworth would be just fun to dress as.

On a semi-related note, though, at the last convention my friends and I kept seeing like... the same two little old gray-haired ladies wearing maroon coats wandering around near the convention center, and EVERY TIME we saw them we went "EDGEWORTH COSPLAYER?! =O ... wait." It ended up being hilarious because we saw them like. Ten times in two days. XD

18. Or, you know, they could be yaoi fans because they are sexually interested in men like completely straight girls tend to be, and not interested or titallated by two vaginas in sexy sexy action. There's also that. I mean come on, that'd be like saying that all the straight guys who fap to lesbian porn should also turn to the gay smexings or else they Seekritly Want A Sex Change.

21. I shouldn't be as amused by this secret as I am, but it's the last line that does it. XD Otherwise, I feel for you. That bit made me sad, though it wasn't the saddest to me. Mufasa dying always holds that spot. Baaaaw, daddy. ):

23. We forgive you. XD But seriously, it looks like it just wasn't your cup of tea for a while, and the OT3s you found never grabbed you. No biggie. It took me until I found some really well-written Sora/Riku/Kairi fluff to appreciate any OT3. (Funnily enough, I can write porn for two people at a time, and write OT3 or more in a more gen-like fashion, but trying to smut for more than two people at a time is an art that eludes me. WOE.)

32. Hmmm, mixed feelings here. I like her character design purely in terms of looks when her hair is in front of her face, because I love that style of character. However, when it's like that, she constantly looks scared and unhappy in her posture and around her eyes. She's tons more attractive when she's confident, no matter what else she looks like ♥

44. I have seen an entire community dedicated to writing fic for inanimate objects, and I have friends who write gag fanfiction for countries. GOOD gag fanfiction. YOUR TYPE PORN INTRIGUES ME, GOOD SIR OR MADAME, AND I BELIEVE IT NEEDS EXISTING.

45. I agree that Gokudera is absolutely the most adorable thing in the series (besides maybe Yamamoto, but Gokudera makes better faces). But aw, you don't like any of the other characters or anything else about the series?

45 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-05-16 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Not yet. Everything about the series is way too absurd-ridiculous-over-the-top, which I really don't do. (I thought I'd give it a try on the claim that the fandom was great, which I, silly me, assumed meant that the actual manga was great, too. Whoops.) Even Gokudera is kind of out there, but at least he has his adorableness going for him, plus the fact that he's not made up of ONLY crack like the rest of the series is. (So far. Maybe everyone else gets better later on, I don't know.)

Re: 45 OP

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com - 2008-05-16 11:48 (UTC) - Expand

I need to stop ending up with two comments on these things. :/

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
46. Really? I like maybe half of those series and think that quite a few of the newer ones have much more interesting plots, better character design, sometimes more realistic personalities, etc etc. But then, the dubbing crack makes me think you're one of those people who believes that anything dubbed/translated into English over here automatically OMGSUCKS, regardless of the level of quality.

Also, your claim is about as ridiculous as saying that any movie made after the 1980's sucks, or that any music after the 50's has been horrible, or that every book written during the 21st century so far has been horrible. Anime is a genre, and not a small one.

48. Th-this is an awesome secret. And I'm really happy for you. But I only have one thing to say, really.

54. Well, you've already been ripped apart in almost every way you could be and I totally agree with everyone. But you've also already said you made this spur of the moment while in a really bad mood, so all I'll say is one point which I haven't seen brought up yet: think of the icon makers who make icons for the purpose of sharing them. They want them to be appreciated, love sharing them- I'd feel horrible if I worked that hard to share something I loved/enjoyed doing and nobody at all touched them. Seriously, it'd be like being an author, writing a novel, getting published, and no one buys your book once it hits the shelves because they write and therefore should be expected to never purchase another writer's work ever.

Also, you know, when I see someone using an icon I always assume they didn't make it until I see otherwise. It's why I'm frustrated by the people that don't credit any of their icons, because I usually refuse to take an icon without credit and I can't be certain that I should be crediting the person using it.

Icon used because one of my good friends made it FOR me, because I love her icons, and I appreciate her efforts and work. =D ILU Bethuwaifu.

57. ... Do want. In both forms. Unfffff.

NOW WHO IS THAT. =O

58. I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY BUT BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW. DDD;

61. ... I can sorta see where you're coming from, especially if we both acknowledge that it's a little silly but. My god, TWO HUNDRED AND TEN FSTS?

63. I see nothing wrong with a girl cuddling with her father. ): That said, I can see both sides of the issue with the top picture. It's not very sexual at all, it's NOT inappropriate, but it is sort of a baby-steps way of making a younger girl seem sexually attractive (since that's what topless shots are FOR, no matter how risque they may not be), and there's a godawful amount of that all over the place anyway. :/

67. Those people are as much fail as the ones who read fics that are clearly, obviously labeled as a certain pairing, read all the way through it, and then review going "EW OMG THIS PAIRING IS SO HORRIBLE." Actually, the cosplay-character-haters may be worse. ಠ_ಠ That's retarded.

72. ... Yeah, I think picking up a religion from a fictional work is just about as retarded as the idiot religious people who bash fictional works for being "THE DEVIL" when they're. Yanno. EQUALLY FICTION ALL AROUND.

Plus, looking at the actual religious messages of Fullmetal Alchemist (which always seemed to me to support science more, thank you), I am afraid of what beliefs you could ever pick up from that. ausfhahfja augh scary godbaby gate thing.

73. Yeah, you've been in fandom too long. Whether you think the Bond movies are good or bad, I'm sorry, but a stereotypical character or relationship doesn't become any better just because you slap a dick on the female one and add in "hot mansex." ... Though that might be a bad way of putting it because I love Bond and the girls. (:

75. I'd like more gen in my fandoms, and more appreciation of the female characters, but you do know that not everyone shares your interests, right? And even if they do, they might feel they're BETTER at writing what they do. You can't exactly tell other people "WRITE WHAT I WANT TO READ, DAMMIT," especially if you're one of the writers that only writes the yaoi and BL- I mean, shouldn't you UNDERSTAND where they're coming from, then?

54 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-05-16 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Your comment made me think of JD Salinger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Salinger#Last_publications_and_Maynard_relationship). The guy writes nowadays just for the hell of it. And I can kind of identify with that: graphic design has been more of a meditative activity for me than anything. That's probably a hella minority attitude. I appreciate that there are people who do want to share them and all, but considering I haven't been in the iconing ring for god knows how long, I didn't think of that at the time.

64. Congrats! And wow, your fandom's closed-mindedness is appalling.

74. Urasawa Naoki FTW! Grimmer is an amazing character too.

72. ...well. That's...good. *shrugs* It does convey some things about religion and the arcana and...stuff.

18. HAHA, I agree. I can't stand it when fangirls act like anything involving females in a relationship (with other girls or otherwise) is horrid and inferior to The Glorious Penis.

Sure, some argue that it's because they aren't attracted to females, but is a character seriously only worthwhile if you'd want to bone them? I mean, SERIOUSLY.

32. Ditto. I felt the same way about The Breakfast Club.

59. Both of them are AMAZING.

67. That is such a douche-y thing to do, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Rinoa is freaking awesome, but even if it was a character I didn't care for I couldn't IMAGINE doing something like that.

Recently, I mentioned to some friends that I might want to cosplay her sometime, and the general reaction was "EWWW SHE RUINED THE GAME!!!" It just seemed so rude. I'm going to a con with you guys, and the first way you react is to shriek over how much you hate my favorite character? Obviously, not everyone's going to like the same characters, but it's so disrespectful.

It's alright. Croik's a less than mediocre Kristoph from what I've seen....she and Gef work very well together, in that respect. If I were you, I wouldn't break up their amazingly bland RP team- they pretty much seem made for each other.

THIS IS DELICIOUS WANK. I LOVE YOU, PW FANDOM, NOW THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER WANK-FREE.
