1) I just refuse to keep up. I mean, I was at least 2 years late to Naruto and One Piece, I still haven't read Twilight, and I waited for FF12 and FF7:DoC to come out second hand. Makes things cheaper, stops me from stressing. =3

51) I believe you. That's actually pretty neat - I always got things a bit wrong.

44- Oh my gods, that would be amazing. Agreed about Comic Sans!
54- You get my respect for teaching yourself Photoshop! I'm nearly completely self-taught, too (I picked up a few things at art college)so I know how hard it is.
Also, whilst I DO know how to make brushes, none of mine are ever as good as the ones others make. I'd rather use something that actually looks like what it's supposed to than mine :/
67- That's so rude. Why would you do that to someone? I feel your pain, hun.
69- I think I do a little, too.

When I see people who use mostly/all clothing made by other people, I think less of them and see it as "cheating," in a way. Because I know there are tons of people out there who judge others based on how good their clothes are. So of course if you use clothes made by a good clothesmaker you're going to be seen as "better."

Sewing machines really aren't that confusing. What's so hard about making at least a few of your own clothes?

[more tl;dr bullshit]

#54 - I just have no interest in using Photoshop. The times I do have to use it are like a nuisance to me. Plus, my sister makes awesome icons, so why not use 'em? She won't mind...

[identity profile] cereal-killer71.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
31- Ohh, weren't we all. Especially after playing the third game and seeing how Valtiel drags Heather away by the feet if you die in some parts. Why couldn't we at least get a scene like that? D:

[identity profile] tenmorehours.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
01. Characters get dropped in RPs, you can scroll past anything you recognize on here. You shouldn't have to feel like you have to rush through a video game. ^^;;;

07. People can ship two different pairings for the same person. The whole "Die for our Ship" mentality is silly, I think.

08. I actually can think of a lot of guys around 35 or older that I think are attractive. XD; Sometimes, more than guys UNDER that. ...Being 20, it makes me wonder a little.

09. I think you need to relax, or find a better con. XD;; Or maybe better friends to GO to a con with. I've been to my local con twice, and while there's been some bad cosplays there was some really good cosplays, too, and nobody whined about me not watching hentai.

10. I've joked that I wouldn't date or marry a guy who wouldn't give Princess Tutu a chance. ...Well, only half-jokingly, I want to be a fantasy author (who particularly focuses on fairytales), so if a guy wouldn't try it or would say "ewww, ballet" and wouldn't have an open mind I'd be just kinda like..."=/". I want a guy to have an open mind, you know? So I can totally understand why you'd do that.

14. JIMMY STEWART! <333

17. Oh, live a little! Sure, the suit's kind of rediculous, but that's what makes it FUN, and why I'd probably consider cosplaying as him. Think about it: there are WORSE anime and manga outfits.

24. Japanese game shows are FUN. I wish I had a more reliable way of watching them. They're crazy.

30. He was awesome in that movie. Really awesome. I have to admit, I think I did start to respect him more myself afterwards.

32. I think it was sort of supposed to be symbolic of her hiding from the world and when she pulled her hair back she was being more 'open' (in fact, if you look on TV Tropes having hair in front of your face is even considered a sign of the 'Shrinking Violet')...that being said, I think she definitely looked more interesting with her hair in front of her face.

51. That's AWESOME. ...You know, the fact that there's been a decent amount of Digimon secrets makes me SO HAPPY.

59. I like Princess Bridbe better, but one is definitely good for fans of the other. (I think part of the reason I didn't like Stardust as much is i read the book first...that always ruins me.)

63. Honestly, yeah, I was more weirded out by THAT picture than the other one. I mean...I don't know if I think the one picture is that great either (artful nudity is fine, but it DOES kinda look like she just...got up after having sex or something, with that bed-sheet look, which really does sorta weird me out, too). ...Honestly, I feel a little bad for Miley, she's not NEARLY as bad as...well, every other pop star out there. I wish people would not bash her for one slightly off-putting photo.

67. What?! Dude, people need to lay off! I'd never tell a cosplayer how much I hated their character, even if I didn't like the character they were cosplaying as. I'd just ignore them or not comment on it. Geez! Some anime fans can be total jerks...

8. Here here. ;D That man is fine in that movie, though I find a lot of older men attractive.

18. I don't see how someone could be in denial of their gender by not liking femmeslash... It's like saying that people are in denial of the existence of animals if they don't like furry pr0nz.

18

[identity profile] akai_senshi.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually- that's pretty logical.

It's just that a lot of the more rabid fangirls think they ARE an uke and scream "OMG I'M FTM" to the rest of the fandom when they're not.

(The man is total WIN.)

Re: 34

[identity profile] wllw.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Go with proud. There aren't nearly enough people who would have.

And he is indeed win. I saw him give a lecture on aesthetics once. He's great.

[identity profile] fencer-x.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
16) ...That entire manga can make me cry >_> I mean seriously, some of the stories in that compilation were SO SAD ;_; Like when the young!fathers had that one night together and then had to go their separate ways, and met up years later when their sons got together? I BAWLED.

78) Geez, haven't we had enough ConYuu secrets for, like, ever? Can we have something other than, "waaa we're so beaten down in fandom waaa." If you're tired of the English fandom being overrun by Yuuram shippers (which it's not IMHO), go learn Japanese and be a part of the Japanese fandom where most of them are ConYuu shippers.

This fandom needs more REAL secrets, like, "I think Greta needs the Shin Makoku version of CPS to step in before she turns out gay, because gay parents make their kids gay :OOOOOOO" or "I masturbate to bearbees."

78

[identity profile] batty-gal.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
If that bearbees secret pops up on here, I'm blaming YOU!

You're right though, this fandom does need real secrets.

52. Same here. ^.^ Fanfiction also allowed me to teach my super sheltered gay friend how to have anal sex, and how to find the prostate. Thanks fanfic, now Sam has awesome sex thanks to you.

[identity profile] vivalanaomi.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
39. Not the OP, but I haven't been able to stand Collin, either, and I've been reading since his first introduction in BmB. I know that the douchiness is intentional, and the author is aware of it, but oddly enough that doesn't make him easier to like.

I'm not trying to begrudge you your right to like Collin. I'm just saying that disliking a character for a quality that the character's creator intentionally gave to him doesn't necessarily mean that the reader's missing any point.

[identity profile] streussal.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
6 - Well, it's pretty much guaranteed that Sanzo will be okay. Villains generally don't get all the luck. (And Hazel is delightful, so it would be understandable to miss him.)

7 - She's like a female house. Some House/Wilson shippers probably feel like it gives more evidence to H/W.

18 - I think part of it is that heterosexual women like the idea of good-looking men having sex - it's like the whole straight guys with lesbian porn thing. M/M fic is probably also easier to write, since there's more available to read in fandom and in some sense it's more intuitive. The whole "cock goes where?" thing. And it'd probably be pretty embarrassing to get f/f sex wrong if you're female. (In manga there also tends to be fewer female characters, so fewer yuri ships available. But there is a definite bias against female characters in many fandoms.)

39 - Part of the reason that I like Collin is because he is such a douchebag.

44 - I'm convinced Comic Sans would be class clown.

54 - Okay. If people make public posts saying "feel free to take icons as long as you credit" that means they're okay with us taking it as long as we credit. If they have better skills than me at something, then I'll make use of it. And not everyone illegally downloads stuff. (I do, though I generally buy the manga that I like.)

73 - I did like the last James Bond, with Daniel Craig. But mostly they irritate me with all the misogyny.

54: OH MY GOD HONEY NO YOU DIDN'T. Bragging about "teaching yourself Photoshop" like figuring out how to use the marquee, crop, and resize tools to make 100x100 pixel squares and learning how to click "Define Brush" are some kind of great acheievement. Do you know what a displacement map is? Do you know what an alpha channel is? Do you know how to convert a path to a selection? I'm willing to bet you've never even heard any of those terms.

OHBTW: I'm self-taught. Except I actually took the time to learn what the software can do beyond "crop and resize." Sit down and shut the fuck up.

First, what you should do, is create an image editing program yourself, then make all your icons.

Futura is the younger brother of Helvetica who tries to act hip, but still goes to the same coffee shops and clothing stores (but totally denies it).

Mrs. Eaves is the kind, motherly if a bit eccentric woman who lives down the street and bakes the neighborhood kids really good cookies and has tons of weird metal sculpture art in her backyard.

18. Tipping the Velvet! \o/

54&63. I am so tired of people bitching about both these things. Loosen up, already.

66. I had a job once that wasn't very sitcomlike, except that some of my coworkers (I was one of only three female employees, and one worked from home) were far too easy to slash. Most of them had girlfriends, of course, but the only way I put up with those guys for six months was by speculating on who was doing who.

In retrospect I should probably be more ashamed of this than I am.
