What do you think were some of the worst casting decisions in movie history?

Charlton Heston as a Mexican in Touch of Evil is pretty funny, but that's '50s Hollywood for you.

other than him that's a good movie, though.

John Wayne as Genghis Khan. Radioactive Genghis Khan, at that too.

Poor John Wayne. And everyone who worked on that film. :(

Both of the actors who played Anakin.

I still feel bad for the child Anakin actor.

Hayden tried his best, sure, and the dialogue was terrible. But the recent resurgence of people who've flipped in recent times with "it's good, really!!", come on. If you want to kill your guilt over how hard you complained in 2002, enjoy the fact that he gave us the greatest Prequel meme ever.

I do think he's better in Sith than Clones, everyone was terrible in Clones.

I unapologetically like Kid!Anakin. he was adorable and frankly acted the part as well as I'd expect a child actor to.

I'm not really a Star Wars *fan* but to me casting was one of the lesser problems with those movies. The dialogue, editing and cg all hurt the actors enormously. Only the top notch performers did well in those films, everyone else was cringeworthy as hell.

I mean I do think maybe the older of the two could have been casted better, but those movies would still not be good if he had been.

SPOILERS FOR FANTASTIC BEASTS

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2017-04-22 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Johnny Depp. We've only seen about 5 seconds of him and it is already a horrible casting decision.

Re: SPOILERS FOR FANTASTIC BEASTS

YES. And it's even more irksome because Colin Farrell nailed that fucking role. Ugh.

Knowing the twist, knowing that Greasy Pineapple is in that movie and will be in the rest, just killed any enthusiasm I had for this series.

That seems like a little hasty a decision, as cool as it is to rag on Depp, we should probably hold fire a little longer on that one.

Sansa as Jean Grey.

I wouldn't probably say that J.Lawrence was awful as Mystique, but still a lot worse that Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.

Kevin Costner as Robin Hood.

Johnny Depp as Tonto.

George Lazenby as James Bond.

Sean Connery in pretty much anything where he was supposed to be anything but Scottish. (Don't get me wrong - I love Hunt for Red October, but the Scottish Russian thing makes me giggle every time.)

Keanu Reeves in Much Ado About Nothing. (Really? Keanu doing Shakespeare? Come on, Kenneth Branagh - you should know better.)
