I wish he would retire as well because the domestic abuse allegations kind of killed any love I used to have for him.

Apparently he has horrid spending habits though so he'll basically never retire.

I don't think I can answer that for you. He was my favorite part of the movie and I enjoyed it overall but there's plenty that I understand people disliking about it.

1. We are reading Dragon Wizard for May and discussing it on Sunday, June 4
2. We are reading Joust by Mercedes Lackey for June

Happy reading :)

(I'm about 1/3 of the way through Dragon Wizard - took a while to get it due to lack of communication from library - and am very much enjoying it so far! This series has so many tropes that I love)

It's such a fun series. I didn't realize how nice it was to see a sex positive show with no slut shaming until I watched this.

I've never watched Sentai but these secrets lately are making me wonder. Is there a good place to watch it? What series should I watch/where should I start?

Some of it is hype backlash, I think.
Though personally, I hated SAO before it was cool, haha. Man I have some burning piles of hatred for it XD

Happy Endings looked really horrible in the previews but it ended up being one of my favorite comedies.

...The only cowboy that's coming to my mind right now is McCree...

It never stops being hilarious.

That definitely read like OP realized it was irrational.

It is ok to feel irrational things as long as you don't apply them to the world around you.

People acted as if it was the FIRST bad superhero movie ever when...well, Incredible Hulk, (YMMV) Spiderman 3, The Green Hornet (they were like powerless superheroes right? Idk), all those corny ones in the late 80's and early 90s....

I did like the first one. But I was surprised at just how much I loved Winter Soldier. It shot up to a place in my top 10 favorite movies. And since that list is mostly Star Wars and LOTR, that's impressive.

Cornell kind of hit me hard just because it was a suicide. He was never my all time fav (I like both Soundgarden and Audioslave but I wouldn't say I was hardcore about it) but being suicidal myself sometimes these things hit me.

Seven Samurai. It's so frickin' long, and it's pretty slow-moving, but I was so impressed. I am now a Kurosawa Appreciator.

Question, OP!

(Anonymous) 2017-05-26 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you can't help the way you feel, OP. Just curious, are there any particular musicians/celebrities that you think you would be upset of the deaths of? Is it just that you didn't feel any particular connection with these examples?

My dad is a massive Bowie fan and we bonded over his music, so we both shed a few tears over it. Same for Prince. I think dad still has some old camcorder footage of me dancing(?) to Partyman when I was 2, lol. My brother on the other hand is a lot like you; he just doesn't get emotionally attached to celebrities like a lot of people do. Different strokes. Not everyone will feel the death of a celebrity so personally, and that's normal, I just hope that even the people who don't can respect that their work played a huge part in the lives of others.

I love that too. And it also is positive toward Dot. I appreciate that it supports both of them.

Can't be McCree, OP said it was a show

That said, I also run out of cowboys after McCree lol (unless you count some people from Fallout: New Vegas, but I'm not sure they count as cowboys). Westerns aren't really my thing.

I don't think being devastated, or even saying "I'm really devastated", is making it all about you...

Have you seen Yojimbo? I had heard that it was based on the Dashiell Hammett book Red Harvest, which I love, and it made perfect sense, but then I heard that he claimed it was actually based on another Hammett book that makes much less sense.

Yojimbo is good though.

Personally I am just not really emotionally connected to celebrities at all, at least not the way a lot of people seem to be. I was sad to hear about Cornell - he was relatively young, talented, and suicide is always sad - but not really personally affected. I also tend to get way more attached to music than the artists who make it.

idk if I'd feel differently if it was something I was a huge fan of. I know a few songs by Cornell and his groups and I definitely think it's good music but I was never a hardcore fan.

I really really liked the first PotC. But this is a series that I think should be laid to rest by now.

Batman gets his name from a fear of bats.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-26 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Using this logic, what is your superhero name?

Now wishing I'd stayed in Leicester for the drama.

Yup. Like, it was better than most of those, I think. It was at least enjoyable. Yet you'd think it was one of the most horrible movies of that year, without any redeeming qualities whatsoever.
