When doing cosplay should you be striving to look as close to the character design as possible, or should you be striving to look as good as possible?

Like if there's a costume element you always thought was ugly, or could have been better incorporated, is it acceptable to make a change based on your own aesthetic preference, or is that a lesser cosplay?

Inspired by secret nr 2: Have you run into a celebrity Twitter account that has had a positive effect on how you view them?

For me I gotta say Andy Richter and Jeffrey Tambor. With Andy you get a feel like he's genuinely a nice guy who cares about stuff. That's rare in Hollywood. The same goes for Jeffrey too, with the added bonus that when he writes his tweets (insted of retweets), he writes them in the form of a haiku. Now that's commitment.

Do you know of any communities for writers that are reasonably active? I know Camp NaNoWriMo is starting up again tomorrow (and I literally decided to go ahead and do it as I was writing this sentence), but I'd like to find somewhere that doesn't die out most of the year.

A while back I was made a mod at a comm here on Dreamwidth but I haven't heard from the creator in a long time and I don't know how many members are still around.

I myself wasn´t invited to my father wedding. I'm not really that close to him but we aren't strained either. It hurt because I invited both him and his now wife to my graduation.
