107. Um, if you're talking about sci-fi or fantasy series in general, all Whedon-related things have characters who aren't straight. If you like your shows a little less snark-quick and can get your hands on it, there's always Torchwood. ... I can't even think of the last time a character was unambiguously straight on Torchwood.

There should be more, but damned if I can think of them. And if this wasn't what you meant, ignore me. :D;;

123. Goddesses have kind of been bad-assing it up since... Ancient Greece at the very least. If you're looking for the cliche, that has to be somewhere on the list. I know this doesn't really address the point; but at this point, I feel like every character's a cliche. As long as the character is interesting(ly flawed) and can win my sympathy, I don't mind. Also, I keep thinking that if Elizabeth were really to be a cliche, she would have run off with Jack. Doesn't the trope say that dashing rogues should beat out earnest boys every time?

I suppose it's my fault for playing it so late, but my first impression was that I was playing the fanfic version of FF6 and Celes was the Mary Sue self-insert topping Terra: beautiful, infused with magic in a possibly angstier version than Terra, source of drama, etc. Which, true or not, colored my opinion, and as such when I was confronted with a general who happened to have an opera-grade voice and could learn an aria in not-very-much-time-at-all, I was...hurting on the inside.

That being said and done, Ultros is, indeed, shibby.

145. I have to dissagree with you there. Sure, some few of their victims deserve it, but mostly, I find Wankas to be just as wanky as those they "wank." It's a pit of hypocricy and I've long thought the entire premise of the site to be somewhat evil -- if you constantly need to tear down others to build yourself up, that's what I define as "being an asshole."

In fact, if I had the money and the boredom, I would buy JournalFen just to get rid of Fandom Wank.

And, yes, I've been wanked there - a long time ago. I admit to having been a twatwaffle, but I believe the situation wouldn't have gotten nearly as big and as wanky if FW had not gotten involved, with all of the parties involved.

Not the OP, but I do and don't agree: IMO, FW being there as a shout for what idiots people are being is a good thing, and so is anything that might encourage people (if only a little) to think before they shoot their mouths off. I'm not saying I actually think there's anyone out there who's going to go, "Better not say that, I'll end up on FW," but rather that it might filter into someone's brain that using phrases like "Nazi Hitlers" (so much worse than regular Hitlers, don'tchaknow) to describe mods, or likening an edit to being raped, will do more to damage their viewpoint than help. *shrugs* A sort of, 'how not to argue if you actually want to convince the other person 101', if you will.

mostly, I find Wankas to be just as wanky as those they "wank."
People are morons, and that doesn't stop just because they've noticed other people being morons.

I was 17 when I read that book, and it meant so much to me. Its one of my all time favorite books, and It made my cry like a little girl. The part with the fox was so touching.
