135. She's the only reason I want to see that movie.

147. Wait, characters have to be alike to ship? don't opposites attract?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's quite real.

120. I think I agree. Jan's inconsistency is the only thing about The Office I'm really not happy about: At first she was sort of Michael's exasperated straight man, which worked really well, and then in the weirdest character fluctuation since Shylock said, "I am content," she became this batshit-insane, pill-popping, plastic surgery-having, candle-tossing lunatic. ...whaaaaat?

135. Cate Blanchett is always sexy.

166. You and half the universe.

133. RADIOHEAD WINS AT LIFE. IT IS KNOWN.

119. Hmmm, have you been hanging out at the Westeros board, perchance? I had to flee that place when the crazy Sansa (et al.) hate got too irritating. (Which was, like, almost immediately. People are morons.)

109. I'm not in either fandom (and have never read Twilight), so I don't have a dog in this fight, but are you saying that because the actor played Cedric Diggory in HP, he can't take another role in another film? I say, what?

Re: 109

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Heavens no! I adore that he's also Cedric Diggory. It makes me love Edward Cullen a BAZILLION times harder.

133. Just wanna say, IAWTS. <3

[identity profile] puritybrown.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
107: Totally agreed. I crave good queer characters in genre TV. I crave 'em like a craving thing. If there were more of them, I'd probably spend less time reading fanfic.

110: AHAHAHAA ME TOOOO! If I was that good a player, I wouldn't need to be reading the fucking walkthrough, now, would I?

116: I was really creeped out when a ship manifesto for a pairing from The Magic School Bus was named after that song. I wanted to sit the author down and say "Listen to the lyrics. Listen to them. This song is about death. The singer is saying that when his beloved dies, he will commit suicide to be with her. Yes, it's romantic, but it's also kind of twisted." But it's like AMVs made to Evanescence songs. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop it, other than through the fans being distracted by a new "universally applicable" song.

128: I used to have no opinion about Lalla Ward but BLOOD LIBEL? Really? If that's true, it's really horrible.

138: ..."motif" means "motive". Both can be used in a musical context. You fail at music snobbery!

145: Yeah, I basically agree with this. In the early days, it was a pit of hyenas, but active mods and the emergence of community standards have made FW really valuable. If it died tomorrow, I think even the FW-haters would miss it, though they might not be willing to admit that the explosion of shitty behaviour was due to FW dying.

165: "What is essential is invisible to the eye." *sniff* That was the first book that ever made me cry.

167: Ultimate!Wanda and Pietro were awesome together when Millar was writing, but I don't like how overt Loeb's been about them. It was already obvious to the readers. There was no need to shove it in the faces of the other characters as well.

[identity profile] gyllespi.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...People write pairings from The Magic School Bus?

You know, every time I say to myself, "okay, now I've seen everything," something like this comes along...

Of course, that following dynamic is sort of exactly what I was going for with that pairing -- I can't say whether everyone uses it with that meaning in mind, but I do know it's getting a little overused for my taste, orz.

133. Good for you. How is this a secret? D:
FUCK P!ATD MY BANDOM IS BETTER TOO

135. I agree SO FUCKING HARD oh god I had an erection for her so badly in that film, despite my lack of penis. Catebob is UNFH UNFH UNFH.
I loved Heath in it, but I wouldn't have actually put him even in the top three Bobs. There was SO much amazing talent in that film.

146. YES, I inwardly cringe a little whenever I hear that too.

151. LOLOLOL YES I HATE THAT SERIES JUST FROM SEEING SECRETS OF IT. What's the point of it being boy x boy if it's basically boy x girl with a cock that it doesn't use.

154. the hell?!

159. I agree. Shipping is one of the central points of fandom for me and I THOROUGHLY enjoy it, but it's not everything; people need to stop getting so bogged down with it and smell the roses etc.

:)

I've sort of fallen in love with Shakespeare slash, especially with such a great character -- Mercutio's scenes are all so heartbreaking if you look at them through slash-goggles.

[identity profile] minionofspot.livejournal.com 2008-06-05 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
110;; So today I was having trouble beating the boss Kleever from DKC2. I went online to look for tips, because no matter what I tried I couldn't get Diddy to jump from one hook to the other...and all it said was something like "Jump from hook to hook and grab the cannonball..." without telling me how. xD It was extremely frustrating, especially since every time I ran out of lives I had to start at the level before. xD
I beat it eventually though. In case you wondered.

113;; After playing Brawl, I started on the MGS series. It was partly for Snake, but mostly for Otacon. He seems like such an awesome character.
I'm not far in the game, but I already love him :D

Too Big #2 - Hon, Wolfram's fans are hardly that batshit (at least, not the majority of us -- there's batshit fans in all fandoms). If we were, why isn't there more wank in the Wolfram community or in the other KKM communities, considering that we outnumber the rest? Or are you just butthurt because we don't/might not like your pairing (which would make you guilty of the very same "shipping" bullshit you mentioned)?

Try again when you can define batshit and see how it fails to apply here.

127 - YES! I loved HYD and Tsukasa. Such an dominating asshole... but I was kind of weary when he *almost* raped Tsukushi. I wish they had addressed that more than "Oh well, I'll treat it as a dog barking at me". Still, Domyoji is love -- and he redeemed himself in the end, at least as much as he could.

151. The uke from that series is so UGLY. They tried so hard to make him look innocent and cute that he looks like a fucking mutant.

Too big 2: I used to hang around there alot. Then Miss Krissy/Krist became a mod and the biggest, most annoying wanker high on her internet authori-tai that I've ever seen. Now I post at Silenthillforum.co.uk, which is much less crowded and doesn't have the asshole dictator moderators.
