110. Oh my god, JUST SHOOT ME! That was my show when I was a kid. I still think about 'How the Finch Stole Christmas'. I still crack up when I think about the 'evil' doll. Where is the fandom?
140. Hmmm... makes sense. I can totally see a competitive/rivalry sort of relationship between the two of them. Kelly did say once that Astaire represented the aristocracy while he went for the proletariat.
146. First of all, your secret design rocks. And secondly, I must admit that I, too, am a bit of a spoiler addict. In my case, it only goes for horror movies, because I'm too much of a chickenshit to see them.
N!S 4. No Stephen Sommers or Rachel Weisz? Oh hell no!

109 - Aw. That always feels weird. (I didn't cry when they showed us Schindler's List in HS. This made me feel like a freak.)

115 - WORD. Like, it would have been sad, but Wilson broke my heart.

120 - All I do is watch this show and see some panels at DragonCon. Actually participating in the fandom would have driven me nuts.

133 - Hells yeah.

143 - I don't really get it. I blame the awesome fanfic writers. They make it all make sense.

164 - Dayum. I...really can't offer anything more coherent than that. (Yay, cleavage!)

106. But... but... Peter/Caspian is full of the pretty!

108. I'm sorry, what? I was too busy staring at younger!Johnny Depp in a denim vest thing that you would think looks bad but on him is just badass. :D

109. I didn't cry either. Not that much of a crier.

112. Shunnnnnnnn.

124. That hat is indeed epic.

128. People isn't really that trashy. They try to be professional and of good quality. Star, however. Star is just gossipy trash. <333

133. This and 124 make me think conspiracy.

140. That could work.

142. France is a pushy bottom who really controls the relationship. JE LE VEUX.

143. Check out [livejournal.com profile] simple__man's kidfic. It's really quite good.

146. Damn it, I was gonna call Rosebud and Soylent Green!

Well, all right then. Oz was just a dream of Dorothy's. Called that one.

156. The place in that picture looks so cool.

112. I don't really see anything wrong with someone saying "please read and review," especially if they say "please." The other two comments do get on my nerves though.

[identity profile] raven-goth.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
102. At this point, I'm really just hoping for a "You're my most important person" thing. If one of them says something along the lines of that than I'll be happy
113. xD Oh god, when I first glanced at that I thought that Peter was wearing a school girls outfit (like from lucky star or something) *has been watching waaaaaay too much anime...*
122. Even though I find Neuro to be awesome I really can see how he could give you nightmares *pat pat*

I'd agree with you but I do actually think some of Maya's fics are superior to the canon, especially the last book, in some respects.

Also, is it bad that even though I'd never seen that particular bit of fanart before I could still tell it was 'If You've A Ready Mind'?

112

[identity profile] anthraxpretzels.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What about...the actual -content- of the fic?

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
101. This. I wish people would now that drama is not exclusive to large fandoms. It really matter what kind of people reside there.

102. They're very likely. They did the exchange thing which in CLAMP symbology, means they're practically married. But I like CLAMP's treatment with couples like that for some odd reason.

105. Even if this secret fails (seriously why get involved in RP in a fandom of a show you don't like. People are so weird sometimes....), those mice are cute as shit. I want to take them home~!

112. I don't mind the "please read and review" because sometimes the writer needs feedback on their work or, if they're open enough, tips on improving their writing. However, NOTHING ,NOTHING pisses me off when the writer does the "if I get XX number of reviews, I will write the next chapter!" bullshit and most of the time the fic is shitty anyway. Ugh.

122. Neuro is scary with his RAPE FACE. His true form terrifies me something awful....

127. Um, why make a friending meme or get involved with the community to find like-minded friends. Things like this won't just come to you.

130. When girls in media are usually typically shown as "submissive" and has to be saved by the hero, it gets very. very annoying real quick. Hell, I quit reading shoujo for a while because it seemed like all of the heroines were klutzy, academically stupid, and their biggest dream is to find a prince on a white horse and be the perfect housewife to the guy. When a girl shows up and is neither of those, it's like a fresh breath of air and they realize that girls can be capable to hold their shit and doesn't need a guy to make her feel whole and complete as a person. I don't mind if the strong female falls in love, but if she becomes incapable and turn into that shoujo stereotype, it upsets me greatly.

And those traits you describe can be very feminine traits. Seriously, you have some odd perception of gender...

134. Ahh, Problem Child 1 and 2 (3 was utter shit...) are awesome. I still enjoy them to this day.

138. Oh, poo. Watch the damn series already. You will fall in love with Sheryl and Ranka, or at least one of them (although I really wish for Sheryl/Alto/Ranka threesome with Sheryl as the dominant partner in the relationship).

142. Ever heard of Axis Powers Hetalia? That would fit you quite nicely. I think there's a small fandom for that, not sure...

151. Holy fuck, you opened my eyes and I agree with you. Now any BotI adaptation is now inferior...

158. I did. LOL. Maybe because I felt Sano was more understanding of Kenshin and where he come back than Kaoru, who seemed to want Kenshin to forget the past rather than dealing with it like he should've been doing anyway. But I don't ship it much anymore and I still ship Aoshi/Soujirou (unpopular pairing is vastly unpopular ;_;) like something fierce, my love for Misao be damned...

162. I admit I BAWWWW a few times watching this anime but I always thought that they overdid near the end and it ruined the effect it was trying to have with the audience.

And LAWD, seriously, the amount of SPN secret is insane now...

130: how exactly being "cool" and "kickass" is (and I quote) "not being a girl"?!!! Fucker!
I love girls AND boys because they're kickass and I don't see how this quality is uncompatible with being a woman (one of the most mysoginistic secret ever!!!).

142: you ROCK!!! XD

145: I need a Pips too :( (Ferngully was such a good movie, thank you OP for making me want to watch it again!!!)

[identity profile] galbadia.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
127. I'm a shipper/ficcer/part-time RPer myself, but there are times when I do just feel like talking about shows (or other things, like games) themselves. But sometimes it's just so hard to approach my friends about it because all I've known from them fandom-wise is shipping. So... I kinda get what you mean. :/

130. ...LOL WHAT. Really, think about it — how can anyone avoid letting gender stereotypes get to them? They're all around, whether they're subliminal or direct, and as humans it's not like we can just shut them out easily. That said, you know, it's really nice when we can find a female character with whom we can relate — someone who isn't defined by the "traditional" meaning of femininity. so lol stfu.

And FYI, I think even I'm pretty fucking kickass, but I'm still a "girl" by the vague definition you're undoubtedly adhering to; I wear Paris Hilton's brand of perfume, I like the color pink, and I cry like crazy when I see cases of animal abuse. But I also cuss like a sailor, got a hell of a temper, and hate wearing dresses.

OMG IM SO MISOGYNISTIC!!!11

If you need me, I'll be over here being a fan of my favorite KICKASS AND COOL female characters. :)

101: Yeah, that really is the good thing about large fandoms. I often hear of drama in the HP fandom through general fandom comms that I wouldn't even have noticed otherwise, as I hang in a completely different part of the fandom!

116: I've developed quite a fear of the U.S. and especially NYC after watching too many shows like Law and Order, CSI, Criminal Minds, and so on. I'm sure they've not exactly given me a balanced impression either, heh, but what is the most obvious thing Sex and the City got wrong?

120: Actually, I tend to take that as a very strong recommendation. I mean, even though it might not seem to be something for me on the surface, it could still be something really special if it makes people all loopy about it, right?

123: I only know the middle one, but I must confess that I shed a few tears for him.

127: Most fandoms have a fair amount of meta, as far as I've seen. Nothing could ever beat HP, of course.

130: I think restricting female characters to only a certain set of characteristics, and calling everything else "unfeminine" is more along the lines of misogyny. Since when is, for example, courage, nobility, and thirst for adventure male characteristics?

158: I have pairings I hate with an irrational passion too - I think it's just normal. Certain combinations will just make me go "augh, do not want", and I don't know why. There's never anything wrong or objectionable about the pairing itself, I just can't seem to stand it.

130

[identity profile] galbadia.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Since OP decided it, don't you know? ;)

...But in all seriousness, they aren't. They're human characteristics. ♥

[identity profile] floriatosca.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I can understand the frustration with femininity getting so little cultural prestige, but not being *conventionally* girly does not make a character an honorary transman! What about the ones who are girly/womanly/femme in less conventional ways? I don't use "kickass" as a synonym for "testosterone soaked."
