166. Thank you. I can't for the life of me understand the appeal of Mylar fluff, because it's NOT Mylar. They might as well be writing RPS *shudder*. I mean, stick with Zane!Sylar if you must write something sweet -- though even that is tainted. What makes them so interesting in canon is their fucked up, hateful relationship, and having them buy a puppy together or cuddle on the beach is...creepy (crack is different, of course).

142. My friends and I spent world history pairing the countries off together. When WW1 hit it was like a beautiful, violent soap opera.

149. HOLY CRAP DELTA STATE. I WANT TO WATCH THIS SHOW LIKE BURNING. I saw a couple episodes on Teletoon loooong time ago, but when my parents switched to satellite, we never got the channel back.

114. Oh man, I ship Luke/Tear so fucking hard. ♥ Although I can honestly say that, even after playing through the game multiple times, I do not see how it's forced. Maybe I'm just stupid or incredibly unobservant or something.

I'm late to the party but I must comment anyway!

162 - SAME HERE. In fact I just watched it for the first time last week or so ( i'm so slow ) and it took me like 2 days to get over it, especially the ending ;_; But damn if it didn't instantly become one of my favorite shows ever. If only I had watched it earlier.

134. Holy crap, a Problem Child secret! I love the first movie and have the second and third but haven't watched them yet. To be honest, having a kid like Junior wouldn't be THAT bad. At least they would be able to hold their own against other kids.

164. I was om nom nom-ing on my fourth piece of pizza as I read this. Kudos!

123. I closed the DS, plugged it into the charger, and left it there for several days before I could bear to open it up and finish the case. I've only replayed it once -- I've been actually going back to youtube videos for reference rather than just replaying.

147. Yeah, I totally agree, though I actually have three lists. The list of things I like in RL, the things I like in explicit fiction in general, and the fanfic ones. The last has ICness right at the top. (Whereas general fiction/erotica can set up the characters to fit the kinks.) Though it's always neat to see someone pull off weird kinks ICly in fic (even when they're not my kinks) -- just watching them successfully walk the character through the narrative hoops to get there is nifty.

[identity profile] poisonivory.livejournal.com 2008-06-14 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
118. Yay! London and Maddie are ridiculously in love. It's adorable.

134. I LOVED THOSE STUPID MOVIES. My friend and I had a Problem Child Club, no lie.

106. *Siiiiiiiiigh*

110. YES! Well, I don't recall much of Hercules, but I still heart Frasier like mad, and I love Just Shoot Me (though a little goes a long way, since they're all such very shallow people).

112. Wordy-mcWordpants. I really want reviews and comments too, but asking for 'em...it's just tacky, y'know. (Exception: If you put it out there and ask for honest, sincere critique--and mean it. I'll do that with an art piece every now and again).

124. What is this comic? It looks so friggen great!

127. Well, I think shipping's something that's going to come into play no matter what, but if you like discussing it in context of characters' actual personalities and development and potentional instead of what's hot, then that would be just talking about the show more or less, right?

130. THANK YOU!!! I'm getting really tired of this, and for some reason, I seem to be running into it a lot in my various fandoms. I don't usually notice the "OMG, so sexist!" things other people point out, but that hypersensitivity to it, especially if it's "this character's not strong because she's a supportive wife" or something make me wonder just how sexist you are, y'know?

142. Fantastic.

152. Honestly, given the craptacularness of the last two books (forget shipping, just in general), I don't see all that much wrong with liking a well-written fanfic better than canon. Granted, I don't know what fic that is, so maybe it's awful.

157. I feel the same way about a lot of my old art. I should delete it...but it's got favs and comments on...but it's so friggen bad.
No, it's not arrogance to look down on something you did years ago. It means you've grown as an artist/storyteller. It would be much worse if you wrote something, looked at it years later and went "This is fantastic!"

158. Agreed. I have a lot of pairings like that, really, but that's one where slash, on some level, just baffles me.

160. ILU. I hear that.

164. Oh my gosh, those things are going to pop out and put someone's eye out. I'd love to see her wear that around the Doctor (I don't think there's any romance, but man, boobs of that magnitude would probably throw Ten for a loop. He'd keep trailing off and staring at them, wondering obscure things about sphere...
Wow.

Yeeeeah. I left the fandom because of that comm. And the mentally retarded mod of [livejournal.com profile] heroes_mohinder, but that's yet another barrel of fish for which basic literacy and OCness is like a massive bazooka... or even the almighty fist of God.

Re: 166

Oh? What did the heroes_mohinder mod do?

[identity profile] brokenbacktango.livejournal.com 2008-06-14 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
166. That's funny, I had to stop going there as well for almost the same reason... except I was turning my mind off and thriving on all the happy AU fic until it gradually shifted and began to reinforce how improbable it is that either Sylar or Mohinder will have a pleasant ending, let along a happy one (not even necessarily as a couple, just as people). I know that sounds weird :\ God help me but no matter how out-of-character and ridiculously contrary to canon it is, a part of me still wishes they could have a happy ending--even with the daddy-killing, manipulation, torture, and death threats.

*shrug* Just another reason why the hiatus is a good thing, because it means I can back away from mah fandom!craziness for a while.
Edited 2008-06-14 03:54 (UTC)

[identity profile] papierparachute.livejournal.com 2008-06-14 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
You know, as anti-Mylar-fluff as I am, I have to tentatively agree with you about the happy ending thing. For me I think part of it has to do with the fact that I think Sylar could, in the very distant future, be redeemed (though he wouldn't be nearly as much fun) and that Mohinder could be the one to help him (the phone call! Come on!), despite their history. I also think that's part of what makes their interaction interesting currently -- that redemption is a distant possibility. With that in mind, I can't help but be a little romantic about it, even if it is highly improbable. I feel ya.

hippie stage may have even been worse than what it is now, though...basically everyone was like "omg XD we are so nice we are just the nicest people in the nicest fandom and we love everyone what else can we say to make our penis harder"

and now it's just like all the other fandoms. eh

[identity profile] relmneiko.livejournal.com 2008-06-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
130. Ignoring your failure in wording (be prepared to be eaten alive for that, BTW), I would say for me it's less about being 'kickass' and more about breaking stereotype. Especially in anime/games you see a lot of the same type of girl and it gets degrading and old.

Personally, I do bend towards liking the 'kickass' or however you want to call it, but I'll go for a girl that isn't if she's well-developed or different in some way (like say Namine from KH; she's even weaker than the typical 'rescue me' princess and just screams for kink fic where Marluxia, Larxene, or whoever mindfucks/manipulates/uses her and then literally fucks her. Anyway, there the interest stems from her weakness. Being a strong female isn't as important as being interesting.)
