Considering how...intents parts of the fandom FOR Loki/Valkyrie have been, I'd say the outrage would be if they don't become canon. (Spoilers: they don't! :))

Oh god, I know. I avoid fandom politics, but sometimes watching from the sidelines can be so juicy. Oh fandom never change.

(I will be shocked if fandom woobifies the black guy. I swear I have never seen a fandom woobified non-white male character?)

I would say Mordo from Doctor Strange, to keep with the MCU theme. Definitely woobified in a lot of fics. I suspect it will continue even if he appears as the villain or antagonist in the second movie. Though, he was already kind of a woobie in the first movie.

I'll admit I find no reason not to woofify him as of now, as he didn't do anything terrible in the first movie and is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Cartoon/anime Asians are white passing so they don't count as PoC (according to SJWs). It's all about how dark their skin is, not their race.

(She's "word-of-god" (or should it be "word-of-valkyrie") bi, but is there even another female character in the movie to ship her with?)

There's only really Hela with equal screen-time but they share so little together and iirc they don't really speak to one another so it'd take some creativity. Then there's her rival scrapper who you could go for the hate to love/love to hate angle but they don't interact all that much either (and I felt like the rival had a thing for the Grandmaster really.) I guess her buddy who plays a brief but key role in a flash-back could potentially be a lover but there isn't much to go on! Wow, I loved the film but that makes the it sound really bad for female characters?

Apart from the scene where she convincingly beats him in a fight (which ok, was weirdly hot) I never got shipping vibes from those two. I must have missed the fandom for the pairing developing and assume it was caused by the release of the still in this secret?

Even as a Loki fan...god Valkyrie doesn't deserve that! Let's say Loki was sort of interested in her I somehow doubt the feeling would be mutual. Especially because one of the things he does is make her re-live presumably one of her worst memories, that was a low-blow. I feel like she's been set-up as Thor's new love interest. Though even that wasn't at all overt. It was a great film if you are more of the gen persuasion.

I have no idea when or how it happened, but at some point I was under the impression that Loki/Valkyrie would be the OTP of this movie. Maybe it was the fandom, maybe it was cast interviews - I honestly can't remember. Of course, the day after I posted this secret I discovered that she wasn't officially shipped with anyone in the movie!

You know you don't need much basis to ship anyone together. I'm about it, and I will admit it's just because I find Loki attractive, i like her character, ngl there's a bit of projecting on my part (as she's played by WoC), and I like reading about characters with not so healthy/twisted relationship dynamics should they pair up. Even if they had only 2 seconds of shared screen time, that is enough for me, lol. See IceMechanic in the 100. I think Raven and Roan were in a shared scene once in S3 and they didnt even talk. I ran with that ship like there was no tomorrow.

I'm not a hard core shipper (I can get behind the Canon ship too), so all the "drama" to me seems foolish. I still abide by the ship and let ship/read and write what you want avoid what you dislike rule. I never really understood the overreaction by some areas of fandom.

What's so great about Valkyrie in the MCU is that she's not paired with anyone in her first appearance.

Who knows? Maybe if Feige does greenlight an all-female MCU flick (there have been rumblings to that effect, AFAIK), she'll develop a love interest in that one. ;)
